City Interactive creates and then publishes some pretty decent budget shooters. They will never compare to the triple-A stuff, but if you're just looking for a simple shooting fix, this particular package offers a pretty decent deal. Two WWII games in their Battlestrike series for one reasonable price. Each of these games runs 8 missions, so each game is pretty short, but taken together at 16 fairly long missions, it's comparable to a single full-length game. Each of these games uses the Jupiter-EX engine, so the graphics are actually pretty good, with a ton of adjustable options configurable from the main menu (though the menus and sub-menus took me a few seconds to figure out). The keyboard defaults to standard PC FPS controls, and the only key I needed to change was the 'crouch' key. All keys except the F5 (quicksave) and F9 (quickload) are re-assignable. I'm using Vista 64-bit, a Q6600 and a 9800GT at 1920 x 1200, and getting fairly playable rates with everything maxed. But for smoothest gameplay and best looks balance, I set both games to 1600 x 1080, where they seem to run the smoothest for me at max settings.
The game plays well enough, but it's nothing special. It is fun though, if you just need a good action-packed shooter fix. Had this been a full-priced game, I'd have knocked off another star, but with two short games included for a reasonable price, I think it's a good value as long as you keep your expectations realistic. City Interactive also has other games out there, and I've played most of them, and the quality is similar in all of them, with a few standing out as better: "Sniper: Art of Victory" is probably my favorite, since I like slower-paced and more thoughtful shooters (but don't get that one confused with "WWII Sniper: Call To Victory", which is also decent, but a much older game by a different studio).

Not terrific graphics, not terrific AI, but a good several hours of shoot 'em up entertainment, especially for the money. I've paid a lot more for a lot less.

I've played a number of City Interactive games and this one is consistent with their strategy of cranking out basic linear action games that follow a predictable proven low-risk formula. That's not meant as a put-down. I think it's a legitimate approach and I plan to buy more of their games.
This game includes two games in one package. Both take place in WWII. The story in Battlestrike Force of Resistance 2 centers on a preventing a chemical weapon from succeeding. The story in Royal Marines Commando is similar, but this time the secret weapon is a new kind of submarine. Both games are quite short and you can probably get through both of them in 10-15 hours. While I played these games on the medium difficulty level, I may try future games on the hard difficulty. They are just too easy on medium. I was probably killed only about three times in each game. Harder difficulty might also make the game effectively longer. Both games contain a lot of carefully designed environment that you go through very quickly. If they were to place a few more challenges in the game, those large maps could easily become a longer lasting game. Graphically, the games both use the Jupiter EX engine used so successfully in the game, FEAR. Although not leading edge by today's standards it's reliable and sufficiently powerful for problem free entertainment with plenty of environmental detail and reasonably sophisticated lighting effects. One item of note is that, while the game accommodates many different screen resolutions, a notice pops up that says the game is "not optimized" for a number of them. I selected one of those unoptimized resolutions, but didn't have any problems. The story line in these games is about average. While the dialog itself was a bit cheesy, the voice acting was not bad and I particularly liked the fact that all the German speaking parts were actually spoken in very convincing German with subtitles. English speaking parts had credible accents. The AI was just so-so and no were near today's standards. Enemies did little to evade your attack and there were very few surprises. Weapons were typical with ammo plentiful, although I did exhaust the ammo on occasion and had to switch weapons. If I had been more meticulous about finding ammo boxes, I don't think I would have run out to begin with. Health is self regenerative. If you get wounded, the screen turns reddish until you recover after a few seconds. One of the saving graces for this game is that it allows menu saves, quick saves, and frequent checkpoints. If you get killed, it doesn't set you back very far even if you forgot to save your game. Overall, while not a leading edge game, I find these City Interactive games to be consistent in delivering a several hours of trouble-free traditional FPS fun, with a minimal learning curve, at a budget price (I paid $12.50). I plan to buy more of their products and recommend this one for anyone who isn't put off by its simplicity and lack of novel innovation or cutting edge graphics.

I pretty much knew when I bought this game that it would not be "world class" and it wasn't. I did enjoy playing it but it was rather short and pretty easy, even for a relative amateur like me. The graphics were ok but not spectacular and the movement was pretty restricted. This game was worth the price I paid, but not a game I will replay very much.

Do not, I repeat do not buy this game. For me I can't even start the game and its not my computer specs either. I have a 2.6 ghz Core 2 Dual proccessor with 2 gigs of RAM and a 9800 GF ghx card so you can see that if you check the minimum requirments you'll know my PC blows them away. I installed the game but when i try to play it by clicking on the games icon or through the play disc it crashes back to the desk top everytime. If this is the case then I don't want the game and will demand the publisher for a full refund not a exchange. So take my sincere advise do not buy this game for its not worth risking your hard earned money for.

I was in the mood for some FPS and in the spirit of COD series got this one. I mean after playing modern warfare these games are not satisfying you.the story might be okay (WWII, what more can you expect) but the graphs are horrible. if you are a gamer do not buy this one.it could have been a good game a decade ago but not now.out!
