5.0 out of 5 stars great shredder!
I bought this shredder about a month ago. I never had one before, but it was overdue. so, when it arrived I fed it with a stack of about 5" of paper, gave him little breaks to cool down, oiled it in between with those lubricant sheets, but basically shredded non-stop. it handled it without any problems! I found out that it's better to keep the amount of pages at about 3...

5.0 out of 5 stars great shredder!, April 12, 2007

I bought this shredder about a month ago. I never had one before, but it was overdue. so, when it arrived I fed it with a stack of about 5" of paper, gave him little breaks to cool down, oiled it in between with those lubricant sheets, but basically shredded non-stop. it handled it without any problems! I found out that it's better to keep the amount of pages at about 3 at the same time, but feed it constantly. it's faster than shredding 7 pages at once, and the motor doesn't overheat as quickly (it stops working when it's getting too hot, so you have to wait until it cooled down again).

I've spent days on research, looking at shredders and reading all the reviews. this product had all the features I was looking for, the best reviews, and it also caught my eye from its appearance (which to me, as an aesthete, is very important).

all in all, after using it for a month, I'm very happy with this product. I use it daily for up to 10 pages, and I hope it will continue to serve as reliably as it did until now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brand Name Super Shredder, February 14, 2007
This review is from: Royal PX70MX Cross Cut Shredder with CD Shred (Office Product)
I ruined grandma's old shredder with a cd. i thought it would shred the cd. bad idea. ok. we bought this Royal. It's super. it's noisy, but it really gets to business. it has: off/on led lighted switch. big buttoned forward/reverse. CD shredder info requires No More than 5 CD's per day shredded. I tried one CD. The Royal just gobbled it. Royal shredder has a port just for the CD's. The waste basket is not too stocky compared to Grandma's old shredder. Not sure if a slightly frail wastebasket means anything however. Color is eggshell or grayish. it's nice to view, unlike the old one i broke. You can certainly buy a cheaper shredder at some discount store and grandma bought her old one at staples i think. If you need a shredder to count on for Home use, buy this shredder and put your mind to ease. One year warranty. tony and karen, oregon.

I think the problem is a fundamental design problem with the shredder after looking at the bottom of it... the paper can jam on the side of the plastic creating unnecessary friction, thereby ruining the motor.
Although this could be true of most shredders as well too. You get what you pay for.. Stay away from this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk!!!, April 29, 2008

My wife and bought this shredder to handle minimal amounts of shredding. Minimal being like 3 sheets a day, and sadly, this shredder couldn't even handle that. It slowed down after 2 minutes of shredding 1 document at a time, and soon after it shut down completely. I recently took it apart to clean it, and found pieces of the motor inside the shredding mechanism. That's right, it was shredding itself. What good is that? This shredder is junk.

Shreds great for three months of lite duty - then fails one week out of warranty. Buy a better one once instead of buying this one and then a better one in 95 days.

I purchased this shredder a little over a year ago, and it is already broken. The sensor no longer works, so when I turn on the machine the shred blades start running without any paper in the slot. The rumors are true too about it not handling more than two or three pieces of paper. It is also really REALLY loud. It is so loud that I have to shut the door to my office, so as not to disturb the whole house. I have used shred oil extensively, so I've never neglected the blades. I will keep it because it does the job. It just doesn't do the job that great. Then again, in my experience, what shredder actually works great through the years?! I've yet to find one, and this one is certainly NO exception. Unfortunately, this product is not recommended. :-(

shredder looks great, but arrived clearly used with scratches all over. I sent it back and received another used model...with bits of paper still stuck inside. plugged it in and it wasn't even in working condition. maybe third time is a charm, but i'm not going to find out. very disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of crap, December 18, 2010

This review is from: Royal PX70MX Cross Cut Shredder with CD Shred (Office Product)
This broke within 30 minutes of me using it. I believe one of the screws got loose and jammed the shredder. Considering it's plastic and a piece of crap, $40 is way too much to pay for 30 minutes of use. If you decide to buy this product, I would not recommend shredding more than two pages at at time. There is no way this thing can shred 7 pages at one time. I would not recommend this to anyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Enough, January 30, 2010

This shredder was a steal for me. It looks 10x better than the shredders you see at Staples and Best Buy and works just as well. When I first got it, I had a lot of shredding to do and it shut itself down after about 15 min of continuous shredding. Once it cooled down it started up great and handles daily shredding like a champ. I live in a very small place and don't have anywhere to hide away my shredder- It's modern style, and glossy white finish doesn't stick out like an eyesore in my living room.

4.0 out of 5 stars wish I would've gotten a shredder that can do more than 7 pages at a time, February 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Royal PX70MX Cross Cut Shredder with CD Shred (Office Product)
The product is great but I quickly realized 7 pages is not enough for most shredding jobs. Bank statements and other sensitive data is almost always more than 7 pages and it's a time waister to seperate documents into 7 page increments. Learn from my mistake and get a larger shredder. You won't regret it. After all, your time is worth it.
