Product Description

Size: 1 Quart (32 Ounces)

Max ATF is a synthetic, high-performance, automatic transmission fluid. Its low co-efficient of friction and high film strength help to dramatically reduce heat and wear. Additionally, Max ATF is more oxidation stable than other transmission fluids for longer fluid life. Max ATF significantly reduces heat to extend the life of your transmission. Automatic transmissions generate a great deal of heat and depend upon the transmission fluid for cooling and protection. More than 90 percent of all automatic transmission failures are caused by overheating, a 20 degree Farenheit reduction in fluid temperature can double the life of the transmission. Max ATF is fully compatible and can be mixed with other automatic transmission fluids, however, for the best results drain or flush the current oil and then fill with Max ATF.

Customer Reviews

Shifting is now very smooth and the transmission overall much smoother.
Laura Hutchinson
Now considering how often transmission fluid gets replaced and how much punishment it takes, a few extra dollars now may save you a lot of dollars later.
King Twosheds
I performed a flush of my automatic transmission fluid in my 1999 Toyota Corolla CE & this is great stuff!

I put this fluid in my 2004 Hyundai Tiburon against the recommendation of AAMCO transmission service. I was looking at servicing my transmission and asked if they would flush this fluid into my system. The guy I talked to tried to tell me that this was a "trick" fluid and that my car would shift very hard and it was not recommended for my car.

I went against his word based on the reviews of amazon, recommendations by royal purple, and my own intuition based on product specifications. After changing my fluid to Royal Purple I can say that this has made a phenomenal difference in my car's shifting. My car was not as smooth as it is now when I bought it new 95,000 miles ago. I without a doubt would put it in my car again and will be changing in another 4 quarters in the next 30,000 miles. My car has always been a little choppy shifting since it is only a 4 speed, but with royal purple I can't even feel it shift. To think that AAMCO told me it would make my car shift hard infuriates me.

I highly recommend this fluid for your vehicle if it meets specifications.

Update:
For anyone wondering, my transmission is still functioning perfectly fine. I haven't seen any decrease in shifting since March. Everything is just as good as when I wrote the review. I took a peak at my fluid a few days ago and it still looks and smells perfect. I still highly recommend it.

Update #2:
Still rolling around with this fluid in. It's been over a year and a half and I drive a lot. The older my car gets the harder I am on it which is exactly what I shouldn't be doing, but it's not a baby anymore. Still 0 problems even when dropping from 7k rpm. I'm confident my car is going to last forever with RP.

I drive a 1996 Chevy S-10 truck with over 200,000 miles on it and a year or so ago made the switch to Royal Purple 5W-30 motor oil. I've been more than satisfied with the results and because of this I've been wanting to change my automatic transmission fluid over to Royal Purple for quite sometime.

Usually in auto parts stores, Royal Purple Max ATF runs about $13-$15/qt. However I found a case of it here on Amazon.com for an unbelieveable price, and even got free shipping with my order! I knew I needed a full case because I wanted to flush all of the old fluid out of my tranny and have soley Royal Purple inside. I found a lube change shop that would do this for me and even cut me a break on the cost of the procedure since I was supplying the fluid. I was told that usually they flush 14 quarts of fluid through a transmission to do the job, but would do it with the 12 quarts in the box. In their words, "it worked beautifully!"

So far, I've been more than pleased with the results. My transmission seems a bit more responsive now, much like my engine did when I switched to Royal Purple's motor oil. I also occasionally tow a utility trailer and I'm looking forward to the extra protection this synthetic lubricant will provide against heat buildup.

Next up, Royal Purple gear oil in my front and rear differentials!

I bought this giant container to allow excess for my mechanic to flush the usual ATX fluid out of his machine before doing my service, as my 2003 Mazda 6S requires some 10 quarts, and this container was only a few dollars more than a 12 quart case (and does not require a bunch of opening/dumping).

There was more than enough to do the job, and I will only need 1-2 qts to do my wife's BMW here in a month or so when it becomes due.

Upon starting my car I thought there had to be something wrong, as I have never heard a mazda this quiet. It took me 4 days to get used to the lack of noise and vibration on startup. My response is much faster, and my acceleration has dramatically improved. I have also noticed a 10% increase in MPG after 2 full tanks.

I started with motor oil, moved to transmissions, and will now make certain that all of my (applicable) vechiles have PURPLE POWER when it comes to oils/differentials/transmissions. This stuff is easily worth 3 times what is being charged for this quantity.

I used this fluid to service the transmission in our 2008 Honda Accord. In short, it made an amazing improvement in the way the car drives.

This particular vehicle is known to have jerky shifting, and shudder when the torque converter locks up. The Honda dealer acknowledged the symptoms, but said it was normal operation...they call it "judder".

I decided to service the transmission myself and chose Royal Purple Max ATF. During my first test drive with the new fluid I immediately noticed that the transmission shifted smoother, and the shudder was gone. It has been over one month and one thousand miles, and the car shifts better than new. My wife and I are delighted with the performance of this product.

Most modern power steering systems use ATF fluid now. My wife's dodge caravan's power steering pump went out and I flushed the system and replaced the pump with a remanufactured one and used mopar ATF+4 fluid which was what was used at the factory, I assume. I fully bled the system and it worked great for about a week then started grinding. I bled the system again and it still had a grind. I then flushed the system again and bled it and it worked fine for about a week then started to grind again, by this time I was fed up. I was recommended by a friend who was a manager at NAPA to try Royal Purple ATF fluid as that is what they had a lot of clients use for power steering problems. It was pricey though at $15 a quart (I think I overpaid though). I bought 3 quarts and flushed the system again, but this time with the Royal Purple. I bled the system and It was noticeably different from the Mopar ATF+4 fluid. The power steering felt like a brand new vehicles' and took hardly any time to bleed the air out (a couple of turns of the wheel). It has since been a little over 6 months since the change out and not even a whine from the power steering system and it still feels great. I have been completely amazed by the Royal Purple as I thought all fluids were the same, now I want to use Royal Purple for all the fluids in the vehicle, its just the price that keeps me from doing it right now, but it was a cheap fix for the power steering problem at $45.
