I would give 5 stars if it was a different color & had manual brush adjustment., August 2, 2005
This review is from: Royal RY7300 Protégé Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
Initially, I was not familiar with the Royal brand of vacuum cleaners. I did a little research and found that Royal is a high-end brand name. Upon receipt of the box I opened the package to find 3 simple pieces. The main unit (motor, bag area, etc,) a hose and [finally] the handle. The assembly took less than 5 minutes and was completed using 3 screws to secure the handle unit to the main unit. The bottom of the motor unit is all metal and quite sturdy. The handle is metal sturdy and secure feeling as well. Turning on the unit you immediately feel the strong suction from the rather quiet motor. Once you release the head to start vacuum you feel a firm (but controllable) movement forward as the brush goes to work vibrating and brushing the carpet. One immediate observation from when I started vacuuming was that I was 'hearing' a LOT of dirt and 'stuff' being sucked into the bag (far more than with my aging Eureka.) The first thing I wanted to test was the auto-matic brush adjustment. I have never really liked auto brush/height adjustment because I pretty much always like mine set on low. The auto adjustment on the Dyson is what made be return it (promptly) because it was horrible. However, in the case of the Royal Protege' 7300 I was pleasantly surprised at the auto adjustment from thick carpet to wood back to thick carpet. Overall, at $99 for a $500 vacuum this is an awesome deal on an excellent vacuum. I would have paid more for this unit but not $500. If you're looking for a great vacuum deal you can't beat this one (unless it's free.)

Great sweeper!, January 30, 2006
This review is from: Royal RY7300 Protégé Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I received this sweeper and used it immediately. It was easy to put together and was excellent for cleaning animal hair. The belt did come off the first time I used the vaccuum when it grabbed my telephone cord, but I was aware from reading the reviews on Amazon.com that this is a problem with this sweeper. It only took me about 10 minutes to put the belt back on, and I have been more careful and the belt hasn't jumped off since. I would not pay $500 for this sweeper, but I got a terrific deal for a great sweeper at $99!

WOW!!!, January 5, 2006
This review is from: Royal RY7300 Protégé Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
This is probably the best vacuum I have ever used. I'm 35 years old, and I grew up with Hoovers, Eurekas, and Bissells. Any model put out by those manufacturers are toys compared to this thing. I can honestly say that I never knew what a real vacuum was until this machine arrived at my door. The suction is so powerful, that it almost lifts the carpet a good 2 inches off the ground. You can feel the pull. It's truly amazing. I wish I knew about this high end vacuum cleaner company a long time ago. They are worth every penny. And to get this machine at 99.99? Well, needless to say, it's beyond worth it.
