King Black Acid....Smooth and Tight, August 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Royal Subjects (Audio CD)
I was first introduced to the melodious sounds of King Black Acid while visiting Portland, Oregon in 1997....I had strolled into a small record shop to browse the local band albums, asking the shop owner for something in the way of harmonious, selflessly indulgent phsycadelia and he handed me this album...Listening to the first song, I must say, almost turned me off, but after listening to the rest of it in one sitting, I was hooked...beautifully lyrical, instumentaly persuasive and inert, this album deserves an audience...The highlights, the sweetly rendered "Only Wine Will tell", and the kinetic "14,000 Member Acid Army", will pull you in straight away...buy it...you won't be disappointed...and strap on those big puffy headphones, light a candle, close your eyes and listen to sounds of a bright and wonderful album.

King Black Acid - 'Royal Subjects' (Cavity Search), August 20, 2006
This review is from: Royal Subjects (Audio CD)
Looks to be the Portland band's second effort.I think I like this release as much as I did their 'Womb Star Sessions' CD(see my review).Simply more of KBA'S trademark 'inventive space rock' they seemed have semi-mastered.Best cuts here are "60 Cycles Numb","Call Me On The Headphones" and the fifteen-minute epic title track "Royal Subjects".Could swear I heard a didgeridoo and a violin in there. If you dig this genre, you might want to hunt down a copy of this disc.Worth many repeated plays.

It's an amazing cd, in fact all of them are. It's like getting high without taking drugs like good music should be. Highly recommended
