5.0 out of 5 stars Very plush and elegant
I purchased this recently and would compare it to the finest I have experienced in exclusive 5 star hotels and then some. This is the best comforter I have had the pleasure of sleeping beneath but be sure it is sufficiently chilled in your room. This breathes very well for as thick as it is but it is a cold climate comforter so turn on the air con too very cool or use...

3.0 out of 5 stars True Baffled Box construction?
I bought this about a month ago and noticed just recently that the down shifts from box to box. if you hold the comforter up vertically, you'll notice that the "true baffled box" construction isn't true at all. there are 4 inch channels between all of the boxes, that allow the down to shift, causing most of the down to move to the corners. otherwise a very warm purchase,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent comforter! Excellent comforter! Excellent comforter!, December 18, 2006

I bought this comforter and I must say it is absolutely the best I've seen for the money. It is fluffy and well made. I bought a 1000 TC duvet to put over it so it won't need to be dry cleaned for a long while. This made it a little more heavy, but still very comfortable.
And it is warm! Once you get into bed, you are comfortable well under five minutes. In fact it will more than pay for itself over time in heating bills alone. I usually turn the furnace completely off at night and was amazed how pleasantly cozy the bed is. When I awake, sometimes the temperature outside is well below freexing and in the room was around 50-55F....but with this comforter you would never know it. However if you live in a warmer climate, this one is not for you!
Other benefits is it is made in the USA and not some sweatshop overseas, and the down is high quality Hungarian goose down instead of inferior Chinese down. (By the way, there is NO such thing as Siberian goose down...look it up on google..that region is too cold for geese and is marketing hype by dishonest sellers.) This comforter also has a fifteen year warranty, and the cover is gorgous, (but still get a duvet in order save trips to the cleaners).
Years ago, I studied in Norway. In that climate, comforters like this are the norm. This is as good as any I used there or anywhere. If I could give it more than five stars, I would. As another reviewer said, it is five star hotel quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars True Baffled Box construction?, December 8, 2007

1.0 out of 5 stars Filling leaks all over the place, May 8, 2007

I ordered this based of the great reviews it recieved! After using it for a month or two we noticed the stuffing/feather dust would come right threw the outer layer of the comforter and get all over the duvet! It would get all over everything and be very hard to remove. Everything was great with it except that part. You begin to breath the fine feathers... Buy it if you want it for a few weeks. Don't buy it if you want it to last...

1.0 out of 5 stars nice..... for awhile......, November 27, 2007
It really is a nice warm comforter, that is, for a few months. We've had ours exactly 1 year now; and after just a few months the feathers began relocating out of the "true baffle boxes" into every corner, and none were left in the middle. We've tried shaking and fluffing back into shape, but shortly after the same thing happens once again. It doesn't leak feathers outside, but it also doesn't act like a $300 baffle box comforter, which is why one would buy this- thinking the feathers would stay in place and not leak out of the sewn in boxes. Hmmm...Trying to find warranty info is a real chore- for royal velvet warranty info you can try calling John at 626-960-6096; Iconix now owns royal velvet and this is the person whom I was told to call. We'll see how the 15 year limited warranty holds up. We're truely disappointed and will think twice before buying this brand again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ryoal care from Royal Velvet, December 1, 2006
To tell the truth, I am worried that the quality of the comforter won't match up with the price before I ordered. But I finally decided to give it a try because the great review it got and that we really want to have a high quality comforter.
We have been using it for a few days and we are EXTREMELY satisfied with it because it feels so soft and comfy that getting out of bed in the morning seems mission impossible to us now; furthermore, it looks really decent with shiny silk ply.
The comforter is reasonably thick and is suitable for room temperature between 55 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, YMMV.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great at first but too much shifting of down!, May 9, 2008

When I first got this comforter, we loved it. Very warm and fluffy. Only after a few months, the down shifted to the ends of the comforter and the middle is empty of down. Burrrrr. It is really hard to fluff the down back to the middle again and when you do, a month later, it has shifted again. This is not a "baffle box" design. I thought the whold idea of baffle box design was to keep the down from shifting!

1.0 out of 5 stars Leaks Feathers Everywhere, September 8, 2007
Like one of the other reviewers, I bought this comforter based on the great reviews it received. At first I thought it was great, but after changing the duvet cover for the first time, discovered that the feather filling comes out all over the place. Everytime we change the cover, we get feathers and dust all over the bedroom! Just terrible! I would not recommend!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars quality and warmth, January 12, 2007

This is the best comforter I've owned for winter use, and definitely is not a year-round comforter. Combine this with a programmable thermostat that drops room temperature to the low or mid 60s and you'll sleep well and save on your utility bill. I think the comforter provides too much warmth when the room temperature is at 69 or 70, but my wife might disagree. It does not have loops or bottons on the edges to attach to a duvet cover, so you'll have to figure out a way to keep it from sliding around inside the cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful comforter made well., January 31, 2007
I looked at a few comforters and as a male was somewhat confused. I did not know what a Duvet was and had to learn about stuffing levels, ect. I returned the comforter I got from J.C. Penny it was overpriced and poor quality. I got a comforter here at Amazon and it had no filling. I found the Royal Velvet and bought a King size for my Queen size bed and love it. We have had some cold nights since it arrived and I can turn the heat way down at night and be toasty warm. It's finish is first class and it not only looks luxurious it is. You have to have it in a Duvet for them to honor the guaranty. Once I found out what a Duvet was I purchased one. Check the size carefully. A king is not a king, go by the inches.
