5.0 out of 5 stars Great Lightweight Down Comforter
UPDATE: The comforter has now taken me through almost four seasons. I find that it has exceeded my expectations. During the winter (a California coastal winter, mind you), it provided superior warmth and comfort, and I did not need extra blankets. During the spring and summer, it was warm but not overwhelming. I still have to shake it out from time to time to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Quality less than expected
I was disappointed in this product. True, it is advertised as "lightweight," but I was stunned to see how little down it actually holds. Most of the baffle boxes had so little down in them, you could easily see daylight through the comforter when held in the air. On the "warmth scale" printed on the package, this one rates 2 out of 7. Wish they'd have added that critical...

1.0 out of 5 stars Feathers Everywhere!, January 7, 2008
By

We've used this for about 1 year and are currently shopping for a new comforter. I normally expect to see a couple of feathers when using a down comforter. This is ridiculous though. The feathers work themselves out of the comforter very easily. Our bed, pajamas, duvet cover, bedroom are covered in feathers.

UPDATE: The comforter has now taken me through almost four seasons. I find that it has exceeded my expectations. During the winter (a California coastal winter, mind you), it provided superior warmth and comfort, and I did not need extra blankets. During the spring and summer, it was warm but not overwhelming. I still have to shake it out from time to time to redistribute the down, but that's a small price to pay as far as I'm concerned. My original rating stands.

I have had this comforter for a little over a month now, and can say without any doubt that this lends to a great night's sleep. My house gets fairly cold at night but the comforter traps and maintains warmth without being overly sweltering.

The down seems to shift a bit more than I'd like, even with the baffle-box, but I just make sure to shake it out and fluff it up every couple of weeks and that does the trick.

The "royal velvet" embroidery on the bottom of the comforter isn't particularly pretty, but with a duvet cover it's a non-issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal/product, November 27, 2006

I bought this comforter as a gift. Not as puffy as I had hoped, but still, a great deal! Not too heavy, just perfect for southern California nights.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment, February 20, 2007
I bought this comforter to "upgrade" from a very inexpensive, worthless piece. To be honest, this comforter isn't any better than the one I replaced. The down totally "shifts" off your body leaving thin sheets on top of you with a pile of down between two persons. When I make the bed in the morning, the pile of down is sitting right in the middle. Take my advice, buy the $29.99 model; there is no difference!

3.0 out of 5 stars Held up for six months, March 9, 2008

The cover is very soft, but my home is full of tiny feathers that poke through the cover; far more than expected. I would not purchase this item again. The "down leaks" got much worse after about six months. I am pulling feathers out of my hair every morning. Perhaps a high thread-count duvet cover would solve this problem. I have also found that the down has shifted into little pockets at the edges of the comforter.

This review is from: Royal Velvet Signature 300-Thread-Count White Down Comforter (Kitchen)
The feathers are just everywhere! My entire bedroom is covered in a layer of tiny feathers. I cannot keep up with them. I even purchased a comforter cover but alas, it does no good. Do not purchase this comforter if you like a feather free environment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just spent the first night with it...., October 18, 2006
Just spent the first night with it in my 64 degree apt. It was very warm. Only complaint is that there is peach piping on the outer edge that I didn't see in the pictures. Also, there is "Royal Velvet" embroidered at the bottom center of the blanket in peach. Not a fan of peach, but I planned to use a duvet cover anyway.

We were more than pleased with our purchase of this item, and it arrived sooner than expected.
It was very very nice and well worth the great discounted price we received it for.
