The lamp base is sturdy (won't blow over in normal winds) and beautiful. It is a substantial size and looks great. The shade comes unassembled, and has a clever design, but the directions are not very clear. Also, mine had a very slight crack in one of the metal connectors of the shade, which I'm hoping doesn't weaken the integrity of the shade over time. If you are looking for an outdoor lamp, I recommend this one.
