I play volleyball and basketball and over the last several years I inevitably turn my ankle during one of the seasons. I have been continuing to wear my black bulky rigid ankle brace similar to an air cast. But its getting worn out and starting to hurt my leg where the foam is nonexistant. I wanted something a bit smaller but with as much protection, because that thing really did the job. It helped keep my ankle from going too far left or right and I never had anything even come close to a reinjury with that thing on. Now, with this Speed Ankle brace, I was hoping to get the same protection but with less bulk. I saw others who had the lace up type braces and they said they worked really well. From the picture the brace looks solid and the reviews were very good. When I received the brace the first thing I noticed was how flexible the sides were... not a good sign I thought. But, I put it on and played basketball. The first time out, I slightly tweeked my ankle on an average play where I knew my older brace wouldn't have even let me feel it. I am a bit dissapointed and I am passively looking for another option. I will keep wearing until then, since it is better than nothing and does give some support. However, I was expecting the sides to have more stability and be more stiff. It feels good, but just doesn't do what I was expecting. Maybe I expected more since I am comparing to basically an air cast.

We purchased this brace for my husband, who is 70 years old with a flat foot which causes his ankle to collapse inward. After paying HUNDREDS of dollars for orthotics, prescribed orthopedic devices, and special shoes, this brace is exactly what he needed. It slides right into his regular street shoe, it is easy to tighten to his comfort level, and his foot/ankle/leg feels much better by the end of the day. I have noticed that his limp is significantly reduced. We're hoping that he will even have less pain in the opposite hip and knee once he gets completely accustomed to the brace. For now, we are quite pleased and believe that we have found a nice, low-cost brace that will improve his quality of life! Julie

I had pins put in my ankles about 7 years ago and need a little extra suport around my ankles. I have tried many different braces and this is the only one I have found for a great price that works great. I have not hade any problems with it them fiting in my shoes and the suport you get is great.

I had a class three ankle sprain. This is the only brace my physical therapist would recommend so that I could go back to playing tennis. It is very comfortable and gives the right support without getting in the way of play.
