... a sort of left-brain panegyric of a devotee ...,
By Roger Andout "Roger" (Invisible America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Royce's Mature Philosophy of Religion (Hardcover)
Instead of a work of disinterested (or uninterested) scholarship, Oppenheim has presented us with the intellectual confessions of a follower, a sort of left-brain panegyric of a devotee. . . . Overall, Oppenheim's book deserves to be ranked with the very best books on Royce offered. . . . Oppenheim's exegesis of Royce's "mature" philosophy of religion stands as a landmark achievement in the current revival of interest in classic American philosophy of religion.
