Rozen Maiden is Amazing!! (I tend to be pretty fussy),

This review is from: Rozen Maiden Volume 1 (Paperback)
I think this book is not only awesome, but entertaining. I didn't want to put it down. I didn't want it to end. I wished I had purchaged the next chapter ahead of time before I finished the one I was currently on. Theres so much.. and the "Booh Bear" (pooh bear I suppose), made me laugh so much! Too bad that changed that part in the movie to something else and left booh out. But, maybe that's why it stood out most for me? hah. The Rozen Maiden seems so silly. I'm just not quite getting the whole Alice game in this book yet. What is that? A battle to she what doll is the strongest, and whatnot? or something else? I am sure you Will enjoy it. I have no complaints about this one. It's not even slow. If you liked/loved the video/DVD.. You will love this manga even more. I promise :) (I am now currently waiting for chapter two... I actually ordered 2-6 because I didn't want to have to wait too long.. It's just taking foreverr to get them... After I read them, I can write a review for you guys!! promise! I'm pretty new to writing reviews, so check out my others, check out my profiles, likes! get to know me.. tell me how I am doing and that I am not just taking up space on amazon and spending all my wallet!)

PEACH-PIT shows a little more depth...,
By
This review is from: Rozen Maiden Volume 1 (Paperback)
Now, first impressions of PEACH-PIT's popular harem title DEARS left me wanting, so I was a little skeptical when it came to Rozen Maiden... but, I'm always up for giving an author a second chance (I've I'd've been any different, I would've never given Ken Akamatsu's Love Hina a chance after failing to like any part of A.I.Love You).
I digress... Rozen Maiden tells the story of Jun, a hikikomori (a young shut-in, an archetype on the rise in Japan) who's abusive to his worried sister and whose only pleasure seems to be ordering strange items online. Very EMO, very dramatic... One day, he recieves a ridiculous order form, which inevitably leads to Jun becoming the human servant of fifth Rozen Maiden doll, Shinku. The volume pretty much covers the introduction of the protagonists and villain (Suigintou) and begins to work out the kinks in their burgeoning relationships while hinting at dark mysteries on the parts of both the Rozen Maidens and Jun himself (he didn't just become a shut-in, after all). The art style is soft shojou and is just the right mix of internally consistant realism and super-deformed/chibi frames to highlight comedic and ironic one liners. Look for references to children's litertature in the various themes and characters (as the overall series itself borrows characters and lore from Lewis Carrol).

Fabulous manga,

This review is from: Rozen Maiden Volume 1 (Paperback)
I had seen a few episodes of the anime and decided to buy the first volume of the manga when I was at Barnes & Noble. Although this volume is still the only one I have, I love it. It's kind of creepy, though, what with talking somewhat nightmarish dolls, so if you're easily scared by things then I wouldn't recommend reading or watching it.
