As an avid cook and spice mix experimenter, my hat is off to Chef Tom and his 'Spice Girls' for creating a world-class chicken spice. This is one tangy and flavorful mix that blows the doors off anything similar one could find at a supermarket. Primary notes are paprika and brown sugar, but what my nose smells first is ancho chile and star anise.

This mix creates a light crust on the food and colors it brilliantly red. Surprisingly, it's also very good on the 'heavier', red-fleshed fish like salmon. Highly recommended along with Chef Tom's other standout product, Chef Tom Douglas Rub With Love Salmon Rub.

This is VERY tasty! Used it on baked chicken pieces, roasted chicken and for the Thanksgiving turkey too. For the turkey, I added some fresh thyme and it complimented the flavor well -- received many compliments and people commented on the subtle star anise flavor. Already used up my first jar and am on my second one. Will be my go-to dry rub for poultry since it's so delicious and easy. Will have to try some of the other flavors too. . .

The smoked paprika does the trick I think, anyway for chicken I've never tried better. Expensive for sure but you couldn't make it as good(I couldn't) and you wouldn't save all that much.

An easy "Recommend".

I originally picked up this product in a market on a whim, and it was my introduction to the world of dry rub. It's still my favorite. All you do is rub this stuff on raw chicken and cook it however you like (toaster oven works fine). You're eating tasty food in 15 minutes and have very little in the way of dirty dishes... my credo in my bachelor days.
