5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Protest Song Ever, June 3, 2011
By
Andrew M. Johnston (Del Valle, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Rubber Doll (Audio CD)
Rubber Doll is even among the more comical and lyrically creative songs produced by Lords of Acid to date. It is the story of a woman spurned by her unidentified lover in favor of an inflatable mistress. The first six tracks are various mixes of the album song. Track 2 ("My, But Your A Fine One" Mix) is effectively the album version.

The remixes run an expected gambit - Track 5 is a somewhat minimal remix. Tracks 1 and 4 keep the energy of the song with high-adrenaline reinterpretations of the original's amazing riffs. Track 3 is a seven minute dub-style mix and track 6 is subdued, focusing on a synthesized squeaking noise. Both 3 & 6 color far outside the lines.

Both the title track and "Fingerlickin' Good" can be found on their full album Our Little Secret.

The song's namesake "Rubber Doll" can be viewed as a symbol of a person's refusal to acknowledge the best of his/her own capacity. It displays a profound inability to show affection to loved ones. The owner of this doll is never identified by name, race, gender, nationality, or any name except "you." It is a symbol of us all at our worst.

Death to cowardice. Death to apathy. Death to the doll.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rubber Doll such a Freaky Song!, March 20, 2008

I love this song. The vocalist's angry ranting is sooo good. Love the lyrics "inflatible bitch", "plastic witch". Hilarious. At least she isn't high maintenance! If she pisses you off, stick her with a pin! LOA does this stuff well. Right there with Thrill Kill Kult!

3.0 out of 5 stars rubber doll gets used a lot, June 14, 2007

Here is another good solid single from LOA. Rubber Doll is a pretty decent song to begine with. With a good number of good remixes(although a couple are a little to long)this is a must have for any LOA fan.
