Beware, December 8, 2011
This review is from: Rubber Soul (Vinyl)
Anyone who sells new vinyl for more than $30 a disc is a rip-off artist. Scarcity is what makes anything worth a lot of money. There are very, very few Beatles albums that are in any way scarce to begin with, and there are ZERO sealed, new Beatles albums that are worth $300, as I see one vendor doing here.

BUY THE LP ON CAPITOL...., October 6, 2009
This review is from: Rubber Soul (Vinyl)
Yes, the Beatles are back in the limelight once again! And sure, LP's are hot again as well. While we all love both, I feel I could offer a little advice when it comes to buying Rubber Soul on vinyl.
The vinyl reissues of Beatle albums these days are the same as the CD reissues, as in, they are tracked in their original UK order... as opposed to the US Capitol order. A good thing, because we all know that the US were just ripping everybody off, by making their own butchured mixes of The Beatles work at the time. Sure. It especially started to piss the Beatles off around the time of Rubber Soul too, because at this point, they were really starting to view the album on a whole, rather than just a collection of singles... etc.
However, I must say, that with Rubber Soul, you are better off getting the US Capitol mix. It is one of a handful of albums where I like to have both the US and UK versions. While the CD is only available with the UK mix, you can still find the US version if you hunt hard enough (right here!) and get it on vinyl.
Sure some key songs are missing. Theres no Drive My Car or Nowhere Man (they went on that infamous album where the Beatles are holding butchured baby parts on the cover), and theres a George song and a Ringo song missing as well (both of which I find to be filler anyway).
The songs that are added kick off each side. I'VE JUST SEEN A FACE on side one, and IT'S ONLY LOVE on side two. To me, this is the one album where the US version got the mix better than the UK. These two songs flow much better in the grand scheme, and give the album a much tighter theme over all... (the game ain't all about holding hands and feeling fine... but say the word and you'll be free!) ...I never thought Drive My Car fit as well next to NORWEIGEN WOOD as Just Seen A Face did, and John Lennons GIRL just seems to be made to go alongside It's Only Love in my opinion. Therefore, I find the U.S RUBBER SOUL to be the better album, and if you collect LP's then it's a no brainer in my book. Make sure you have a copy of the US CAPITOL release!!
