I ordered four of these racks to stack in my garage because 8 people had given them five stars. I ended up returning them (which cost me money to return to Amazon). I thought they looked cheap and cheesey. One of the boxes had been smashed in transit and the end pieces had the thin layer of black stuff scraped off which revealed just how cheap they are. If you want to give them a try, order one to see if it is the quality you are seeking and order more if you like them.

This is the best shoe rack, it's sturdy & very attractive. I bought 3 of them & stacked them on top of each other. I plan to buy one or two more & stack it even higher! I wear a size 7 shoe & I'm able to put 4 pairs of shoes per shelf. You won't be disappointed with this purchase...

These are the best shoe racks I have ever purchased for this price. I have bought a lot of plastic or metal versions in the past and they don't even compare to these. I bought two and they stack great. I am buying two more because they are perfect!

Why Rubbermaid chose to attach its name to this product is beyond me. I'm well aware that we no longer make anything ourselves in this country, but this is just silly. I paid $[...] for this at ... and after opening I immediately let out a laugh. The veneer is so delicate your fingernail will easily scratch (as I did in multiple spots) it so I suggest wearing gloves. The "so called" metal for the shelves is as flimsy as can be. They came completely crooked, so I had to waste time trying to bend it so it would at least appear flat from the downward angle even though I knew it wasn't. After it was fully assembled I noticed the ends from the rack were tearing the insertion holes on the wood. Wow, just wow. You will be returning this, trust me.

Fits well with a stylish interior and it is cheap. How can you go wrong! Also, it is easy to assemble.

I bought this shoe shelf several months ago because it had a good price, looked good and was made of wood and metal rather than cheap plastic like most others. Unfortunately when it arrived, I found the quality of the materials to be extremely poor. The sides of the shelf are made of a very thin and flimsy wood. A few moves around our bedroom have left deep scratches and dents in both sides, so I wouldn't expect it to survive much wear and tear. Most importantly, when I screwed the two shelves on to one of the wood sides when I first assembled it, I could never attach the other side to make the shelves completely level. No matter what I tried, after over a dozen trial, one of the bottom corners was always off the ground. It still wobbles to this day. Save your money and buy something with higher quality materials.

I like the design of this shoe shelf. Quality is not exactly very good, one of the mesh shelves is a bit bended and won't fit well with the screw holes. The wood color is very very dark, I actually think it looks black, it's nothing like the picture which the wood has a rich walnut color. I think you really get what you pay for, very affordable shoe shelf with practical value, moderate quality.

Lot's of positive reviews about this but the shelves on mine busted shortly after putting together.

I have read the other reviews and discovered I could stack these! I probably will not stack mine because of the height and because I have it behind a sofa in the seating area of my large bedroom. My husband likes it there so much that I am ordering a second one to sit next to it! Of course, I would rather all of his shoes be in the closet. But it seems to make him so happy that it is worth having them out there! Only the two of us see them anyway. It is nice looking and so are his many dress shoes. He dresses very early in the morning and it makes it much easier for him to find the right pair!

This shoe rack looks nice from a distance, no doubt. It's also nice that shoes can't fall through because it uses a metal grating. It gets the job done, but it's not very sturdy.

The wood frame is very thin and can break easily; it's very cheap wood. If I ever dropped anything on it, including my shoes, it would easily break. Accidentally kicking or tripping on it will also break it, it's really that flimsily. My friend has one that has already broken, but still `works'... What can you expect; it's a cheap shoe rack.

**Update Nov. 5, 2010. It's not even been a year and this shoe rack has already started to crack. I bought two in order to stack them. They are cracked where the wooden dowel rods are used to secure the two shelves together. I suspect I'll be in the market for another shoe rack pretty soon.**
