Great idea, but could be improved.,
When these first came out, they filled a void that made us go out and get one immediately. Although they are rather expensive, they do hold a lot of paper and some wrapping items (scissors, tape, pen, to/from cards, ribbon and bows).
They got it right: 1) Has a special flip top lid for wrapping hardware. 2) Nice quality plastic, stands up to storing in the basement - hasn't cracked or broken. 3) The lid fits tightly, keeps out any critters. 4) Holds a lot of paper and other supplies like bags and bows. They need to rethink it: 1) The item is about a foot too short... only fits short rolls of paper. 2) The utility compartment that holds your scissors and paper should also lift open to allow easy access to the rolls. You have to remove the cover instead and it can be tough to do that and put it back on. 3) The utility compartment should be a little bit larger. It barely holds a roll of ribbon. Would also be nice to have adjustable plastic segments. 4) Needs to be a bit roomier. 5) Could use an adjustable "slot" system, say with a cross bar about half way deep to allow you to remove rolls without adjusting the entire container full. Would also allow you to have the rolls stay vertical and give space for a bag of bows without everything falling to one side. For the money, it should include all of the above and probably come half full of paper (it's a Piece of plastic!). We also bought a Sterlite one that's a foot taller, but it doesn't have a compartment for tools. Nor does it have a crossbar... but it was much cheaper and holds almost twice the paper. I'm giving it a 3. It's a nice design, but could be a lot better. I hope Rubbermaid reads this!

Nice Idea. Poor execution.,

I got this for $5 after Xmas @ Target and wouldn't recommend paying any more for it. Even though I don't have many rolls to store I thought it might be a good idea to start & save on wrapping for next year by storing them in this. While I'll still probably use it, it is extremely annoying. The plastic seems ok, however the design is not user friendly at all. The large container portion seems sturdy & you might pick this up if you plan on storing things uncovered, however the lid (2 pieces) is a nightmare. For starters, it uses 4 plastic clips which attach it to the top in such a way that it is loose on the top (not air tight) & wiggles, however it is almost impossible to lift it off. It requires 2 hands & much effort (ie. holding the big bottom portion between your legs & grabbing the top lid with both hands) to get it off. Within the lid there is a small (almost negligible size) flat compartment that is supposed to hold scissors/ribbons etc., but it's too small to hold anything more than a very thin pair of scissors and maybe one tape container and one bow. The lid that closes onto the top compartment in the lid is hinged so it lifts up & down, but it doesn't snap shut. So, if you're going to remove the lid, you better take out all the contents of this top portion or they will fly all over the place. Rubbermaid should have designed this so that the large lid portion hinges for easy removal of the rolls and the small compartment inside the lid attach by a secure locking piece.

Good box, loose lid,

This does hold a number of rolls well, but the lid falls off if you bump it. Can not be used horizontal, or pass it up and down the lader easily.
