Ugh...another disagreement on the Configurations line...

Folks, this is a great product. For $30 you store 15 pairs of shoes. $1 per shoe is the price of SANITY.

My wife's shoes now look neat and tidy and the way this product integrates with the rest of the line is wonderful. Move it up, move it down, DOESN'T MATTER, she can do it herself to her heart's content.

No, this is not California Closets custom wood pieces. But it will get the same job done AND let you COMPLETELY change it tomorrow. Or the next day yet again, etc.

I love the Configurations line. Very good stuff.

It is true that the cubbies are not that big. You certainly can't fit boots, but you can fit adult sized gym shoes when you turn them on their side. You could also fit more than one pair of kid's shoes in each cubby. I am using it in our entryway in order to clean up the space. It certainly organizes the shoes and keeps the area looking much less cluttered! I have the unit sitting on the ground which works nicely. Also, it was very easy to assemble.

I wish I could have given this item no stars at all. In concept, it was great, but poor quality sure ruined this one. I assembled it in no time, and according to the instructions. When I installed it in my configurations closet (which I LOVE) the shoe rack broke at the hinge.

Poor quality, poor construction. DO NOT BUY.

For this much money I thought it would have a back to it. I wear a womans size 8 - 8 1/2 shoe and some of my heavier shoes don't fit in it. Very flimsy. The inside shelves move in and out so I may glue it down. I do like the color but all in all I thought it would be heavy duty/nicer quality. Rubermaid is usually overpriced.

I got two of these shoe cubbies five years ago, and now I am buying two more. I was surprised to read so negative reviews! These shoe organizers work great for my family: They take little space for how many pairs of shoes they hold. My husband is the only one who uses a hole for each shoe. I set each cubby with the 3-hole side on the floor, so I can fit two cubbies in the closet. Some of the other customers who complained about the tight holes might want to put each pair of shoes the same way you see them in a shoebox in a store - the shoes are facing, with the toebox of a shoe over the heel of the other shoe. This cubby is an inexpensive, practical way to keep your closet neat.

We got this as part of our Rubbermaid Configurations set. It's an awesome modular closet set. It's one of the best out there.
This piece is nice and looks great. However it isn't quiet as sturdy as the other pieces and you need to have small feet to get your shoes to fit in the cubbies.
This is a nice looking piece though and goes with a great system. If you're short on space I'd recommend the drawers over this piece, but if you have enough space this is a great addition.

It sure is not the best quality but you get what you pay for. I think the quality is OK considering it's low price. Only purchase this when you don't plan on using it for a long period of time.

BEWARE! The picture on the front of the box is very misleading. The assembly was easy..I had no intention of mounting it on brackets, but still it was very easy to assemble. Problem is, I couldn't fit even one sneaker into the cubby spaces. I'm a man with a size 10 shoe..pretty average. I tried to put one sneaker from a pair of size 10 Nike Shox ..couldn't get it in without jamming it. Then I tried a pair of leather loafers..size 10. ONLY one shoe fit. Unless you have tiny feet, or are using it for kids 10 years old and under..don't bother with this product. One good thing..it disassembles just as quickly. Back in the box and I'm returning it to Lowe's tonight. They need to either change the box photo..or tell people that it only fits small shoes. VERY SMALL SHOES ONLY.

I bought a white version of this product from a local hardware store to use as a temporary wine rack. I plan on remodeling my kitchen in a year or two and have an open area where the door used to be. There's a small freezer chest and lots of blank wall space, so I put up some Rubbermaid wire shelving and one of these shoe cubbies. I had a 24-bottle wine rack I wanted to get rid of because it takes up too much floor space and I don't keep more than about 6 bottle of wine on hand at a time. I thought I could put them in this cubby.

Well, each of the cubbies is much wider than a wine bottle, so they fit okay, but I put some of that plastic closet liner underneath them so they wouldn't roll around. Some of the bottles do stick out about an inch, but it's not a problem because they're overhead and not in an area where I'm likely to knock into them.

To fill some of the other cubbyholes, I bought one InterDesign Linus Pack Place (5" X 10.5" X 3.5") to see if it would fit in the organizer. It did -- perfectly. Now I have my tea bags organized and easy to reach. I'm ordering more of the InterDesign holders to use in this "shoe" cubby to help organize my kitchen stuff, like vitamin bottles and spice packets. Once the kitchen is remodeled, this just might become a "shoe" cubby. But for now, it's living the good life ... and serving up fine wine. ;)

Four stars because the product went together fairly easily, although the directions aren't the best. The product is laminate over pressed wood chips, which is okay, but these things don't stand up well to repeated moving around and they're quite heavy. The other thing is that the laminate often gives off an odor. It's not noticeable in the kitchen, but I have something like this in my clothes closet and it smells funky. I wish they could do something to offset the odor problem.

The product didn't have the quality that I would expect for $40. The lack of a wood panel behind of it, left the pieces inside moving every time I tried to put my shoes in it.
Also, the instructions weren't clear.
My appreciation goes to Amazon.com that reimburse me as soon as they received the box back. They were really efficient.
