This storage container holds a lot of my out-of-season clothes and is just the right size to fit on my Rubbermaid Configurations shelf. It is attractive and there are lots of other matching products to go along with the Rubbermaid closet system, my favorite being the 2-pak nesting bins. The cedar inserts, however, aren't what I expected--there are two, approximately 1" x 4" and about the thickness of an emory board. Not a big deal though and I do plan on ordering at least one more for storage.

I just moved and I have been spending money on other necessities rather than bedroom furniture. But I still needed something affordable to store my clothes until I could get an actual dresser. I also wanted something that I could still use after I got furniture. This was perfect.
The word chest is very misleading because it is much smaller than what you think of when you hear chest. Don't expect to fit your entire winter wardrobe in one "chest." You'll need at least three. More than likely, you'll need four or five. Also, I read in reviews that the cedar inserts are small...and I was like..psshhh...whatever. Well, it's true! They shouldn't even say that cedar inserts are included because it's such a disappointment. If they didn't even list that at all, it would have been a nice (very little) surprise. Instead, I thought...are these supposed to be the cedar inserts? They are flimsy little strips. Also, keep in mind these are made of canvas. So they aren't great for stacking. But they are perfect for under the bed. Definitely worth $10.00 and I think they look much nicer than the plastic storage containers.

I don't have the "Configurations System". I was just looking for storage. I find these very flimsy. The canvas is not a fine weave so it will be a big dust gatherer withouth being able to really clean it. Haven't used because I need to cut a cardboard/wood an insert for the bottom to make sturdy enough to carry without collaspsing, or I will need to buy two of 22 gal rubbermaid inserts because I bought 2 boxes. I think I prefer the bags that you suck air out of. If you require the look..ok, but for storage it's not really what I hoped.

After the shoe box incident, I was skeptical about Rubbermaid items but I still went ahead and bought 2 of these because I need to store my winter clothes.
When they arrived and I started filling them out, I was very impressed! The handles are very sturdy, there is plenty of space in them ( I was able to store ALL my winter clothes in 4 of them total!!)and they are not cumbersome to pick up or stack up. The only thing I found was the "cedar strips" are really small so I ended up adding some extra cedar blocks just to make sure the clothes will be ok until next winter. Great buy for the price!

I initially ordered one of the storage chests to make sure I would like it and it would serve the purpose I needed (to store out-of-season clothes). Well it not only did that but inspired me to become just a bit more organized in the closet. I ordered three more and they work great. They fit perfectly with the shelving that is part of the Rubbermaid Configurations closet organization system and match the garment bags and laundry hamper from the same canvas collection. I love it! Perfect for sweaters, sweatshirts and winter clothes that I don't need to have in my dresser in July!

It's an adequate piece for basic storage, but not as protective as I expected. There is no moisture barrier, so this is strictly for dry areas. And the cedar inserts are teensy-weensy, too small, I think, to have any deterrent effect. I didn't smell any cedar aroma at all. The only upside is it's collapsible when not in use. I'll use it, but I won't be buying any more like this. Other pieces in the same series are a much better value, which is why I bought this one. Recommend only for clean, dry storage use.

Not What I Hoped For,

This review is from: Rubbermaid 3F23 Configurations Three-Handle Storage Chest With Cedar Inserts, Natural (Kitchen)
This chest really is just a bad mistake. The bottom and top is a very thin fabric, and the sides sag and collapse if you pick it up with even the slightest weight inside it. The sides are framed by two separate cardboard type pieces (2 each side) that meet in the middle. Picture if you took two pieces of cardboard and put them end to end, just touching, but not connected. These pieces give it NO side support so the whole thing flops inward in the middle, pretty much collapsing in on itself, and the thin cloth bottom hangs downward with whatever you have inside when you pick it up. Even empty it sits bent in the middle looking a flimsy mess. I wanted to use this chest for some photo storage, but I'm not really sure what I could use this for. They really should not call this a chest, as that implies that it has some structure, and that you can use it for light storage. I'm not sure what you could store in this, as the structural problems give it the same effect as wrapping something in a misbehaving, misshapen pillow case. I rather expected it to have thin cedar inserts that kept the box rigid, or SOME type of frame that supported it. Really, really bad product.

Shame on Rubbermaid,

The only good thing I can say about this chest is that it doesn't cost much. In other words, the chest is cheap. Actually, it's not really even a chest; its a rectangular canvas bag off of which the flimsy cloth handles tore almost immediately. As far as the "cedar inserts" go, they turned out to be two tiny, non-functional slivers of cedar veneer stitched into miniscule cloth pouches - just enough for the manufacturer to imply that there is some sort of cedar framing or lining, which there is not. To use the word "cedar" in association with this junky product is purposefully misleading. Shame on Rubbermaid for putting their once-trusted name on this so-called "Storage Chest With Cedar Inserts". It should be called "Light-Duty Rectangular Canvas Storage Bag". At least that would be honest.

I used to store my winter clothes and put in the closet. I usually use storage bins, But works fine too. Not too sturdy soft canvass material.
I am happier with the storage bins.

Flimsy, but Okay.,
This review is from: Rubbermaid 3F23 Configurations Three-Handle Storage Chest With Cedar Inserts, Natural (Kitchen)
I use mine for DVDs and VHS tapes, so I don't mind that it is not air-tight. Since it is cloth, it might not be ideal for storing clothes in a basement or some place which would require a protective container for your clothes. Also, if you put something heavy in it (such as lots of DVDs), you wouldn't be able to move it frequently because of the flimsy bottom. Mine just sits on the ground and I get things out of it without moving it, which doesn't create that problem. But, if you're storing light-weight items in there and just put it in a clean space such as a closet, these things shouldn't be a problem. It is not heavy-duty, so don't expect to use it as such!
