4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Quality, Well Engineered
I ordered this "roll away" cart to make hauling my tools from the truck to the dock easier.

Rather than juggling the cordless drill, hand tools and cases of parts I now simply load up the rolling cart and leisurely walk down to the boat; not straining my back or worrying about which tool I'm going to splash in the harbor. The cart folds nicely into a suitcase...

2.0 out of 5 stars Broke During Second Use
I am a teacher and have used several brands of these cargo crates. This one broke only the second time I used it (and it didn't have much in it). The handles came out. I was really disappointed.

The cart folds nicely into a suitcase sized package that lays flat until needed. Simply open two red clips on the side, expand the walls, fold down the floor, insert the cross braces and you've got a durable, study little cart in seconds. The handle expands by clicking the button on top similar to most luggage rollies. The assembled crate is roughly the size of a grocery store milk crate, perhaps slightly taller.

My only recommendation for improvement is to have the top of the crate made out of a non-skid material. This would make items stacked above the edge less susceptible to sliding off.

I have this crate and I love it. I have an suv and always used bins to carry groceries, etc. from car to house. It is very guick to open and close. I only bought one when they were having a sellout at a hardware store and got it really cheap ($10). When I went back they were all gone. I will order another, maybe two. Great idea!

1.0 out of 5 stars Falls apart within days!!!, October 10, 2008
This review is from: Rubbermaid 3N83 Collapsible Cargo Crate (Kitchen)
I bought this product and on day 3 the left rear side separated from the back and just hung there! Thinking I had a defective one, I arranged to return it and get another and the same thing happened in a matter of days! I'm putting no more than a purse, a lunch bag and a small tote bag in there and it's nothing heavy - I just have a bad back. With 2 crates having the same problem in a matter of days - something is wrong with the quality of this item.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great crate..., June 24, 2008

Purchased this as a lightening deal a few days ago and am happy to have done so. The reason I have given it three stars rather than 5 is because of the quality. The little plastic cover that goes over the wheels feels rather flimsy as do the stationary legs on the front. Again.... it is a great product and it truly does collapse down to about 3-4 inches in height. I recommend it for SUV/Mini van owners that need something that can collapse down when not in use. If you shop at Sam's Club/Costco/BJ's... then this will be great. How many times do you find yourself making so many trips to and from your home because you can't bring everything up. It would even work with local supermarket trips. The telescopic handle is great.

I would recommend the product as long as you don't pile on heavy things on top of it ( I see the flimsy plastic pieces cracking). I think in normal conditions with people who don't abuse it, it will be a great item to own. IT has made our lives easier.

ON a side note... this item arrived in a beaten up, used/retaped box. Someone most likely returned it and didn't even make the effort to use new tape, rather resealing with the old non-sticky tape. SHAME ON YOU AMAZON.

I will update if anything goes wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roll on, June 19, 2008

This is a handy item to have if you use it. But you can buy one usually for $10-$15 on sale at dollar stores and office supply stores.

1.0 out of 5 stars Weak, small & generally useless, January 16, 2010
This review is from: Rubbermaid 3N83 Collapsible Cargo Crate (Kitchen)
I bought this to tote groceries the short distance from the car into the kitchen (maybe 40 - 50 feet, no stairs). The packaging didn't indicate a weight limit but did say cart was sturdy or words to that effect. Upon first use I found it to be flimsy & almost too small to be of use. Small plastic wheels didn't roll over front door's threshold & had I to pick it up. After another two or three uses, the handle came out of the base as I unfolded it to use. I never could get it back in right and just decided to return it. The picture on the packaging shows some sports equipment (i.e., soccer ball, basketball, etc.)in cart, but I wouldn't recommend using it for that. It is disappointingly small, fragile and awkward.

I subsequently bought another of this type from Office Depot (Office Depot brand also) which I used for about a year until it finally cracked last week. If you must have this cart style, though not perfect, the Office Depot brand cart stood up a lot better.

This is a good cart but after purchasing it, I found an almost identical cart at Office Depot for less money and the O.D. model comes with a lid. Amazon also sells a similar item with a lid (dbest Quik Cart Two-Wheeled Collapsible Handcart with Lid #00-011). All of them probably come from the same factory with slightly different features.

If you want protection for the contents that a lid would provide, don't get the Rubbermaid cart.

I bought this on sale at Loews for $10. I am now realizing I should have bought another. I am a teacher and it is great for hauling around books and for trips to the library.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not well made ...., June 29, 2011

I purchased two of these - one for home, one for work - I teach. It is supposed to hold up to 70 lbs - and I guarantee you it does not without breaking. I had the front panel on one break, and one wheel fell off of that one, as well - it had 1 gallon of milk in it and 10 lbs of potatoes - no where near 70 lbs. The other one, the handles came out and would not go back in - it only had a few books in it - again no where near 70 lbs. So, they are both useless to me now. I thought Rubbermaid was a good name and would be sturdy. NOT! I need to replace both of them, and they are less than 1 year old. Don't waste your hard earned money on this product.
