This is the dish drying rack I grew up with in the 60s and 70s, and after having spent a small fortune on Eurodesign and industrial/contemporary/architecturally-designed dish racks, I now realize the Rubbermaid is the best. The utensil cup sits securely inside of the rack so water drains onto the tray (sold separately, unfortunately), and it holds extra long kitchen utensils, even soup ladles. The entire rack is rubberized so that it doesn't rust, and you don't have to worry about delicate items getting scratched or chipped even if you drop them while placing them into the rack. The size is also just right for storage, which can be handy if you have to throw the rack into the dishwasher or under the sink when guests unexpectedly show up. Yet I've been able to place large, heavy pots into this rack, and they stay there---they don't flip out or slip, unlike some of the more expensive racks that can barely manage to hold regular dinner plates. This is such a humble, utilitarian item, but it makes a hectic evening's dishwashing a little less stressful.

Rubbermaid - not what it used to be,

I received the tray promptly and in good condition, so I was happy with the service from the selling company. The product itself is another story, but this is Rubbermaid's issue. I have an old (really old) dish drainer and drain tray, and they are large, much larger than the offered "large" tray and drainer, and constructed of heavy guage metal coated with - vynal?, rubber? Anyway, it has held up incredibly well and this new one is thin, weak, and unimpressive in comparison. The silverware dish does not hold much silverware and tends to come off. Ah, Rubbermiad - I would rather pay more for a quality product, than deal with these cheap, irritating products! I am going to look at commercial kitchen products to see if I can find something substantial that will hold a large family's worth of dishes or an enthusiastic cook's worth of pots and pans!

This dish drainer is well designed and constructed. I'd not been able to find this color (bisque)or size at any local stores. It's nice to be able to find what you want in the color you need.

Just to add to what others have written. The utensil holder on the one I received is different than shown in the images. The one I have is more rectangular and while it is securely attached, it is quite small and certainly can't hold large cooking utensils. The other thing I wanted to comment on is the cup/glass holders along the side. When I put a cup on them, it slides all the way to the bottom. I don't know if that's normal or not (or if they are really cup holders or not) just that on previous ones that I owned they would hold the cups up off the bottom nicely leaving room for other items. Anyway, just by two cents.

I bought this to replace my old Rubbermaid drainer which started to crack and rust after 14 years of use. I thought it was pricey but this color is impossible to find. I agree with other reviews that the quality is nothing like with the older versions. It's very light compared with my old one, and I already scratched the coating just by snapping on the silverware caddy. It also doesn't have the "band" going around the side that keeps stuff from falling out. All in all, it will do because I didn't have much of a choice, but I wish it was as good as my old one.

This is exactly like the old-style dish drains -- it's not flimsy or cheaply made. It holds a lot of dishes, it hasn't rusted (yet) and the color hides any hard-water stains. I'm so happy I bought it!

I've tried other and more "modern" drainers and trays, but Rubbermaid is still my gold standard. Roomy enough to dry large pots and pans for large dinner parties. Easy to clean, will not damage fragile items, and does the job! So glad I found it on Amazon at such a great price! I will purchase again!

vinyl splits, cups fall out front and back,

This looks good when new. After a couple of years, several rows of vinyl started to split and rust developed on the bottom left. This is the opposite end where we put the long knives - ironically this side is still good. There are wide gaps in front and back where cups and small items will fall through. You will learn where to put them when the first one falls over and breaks. I just put some tie wraps horizontally across. Not too pretty, but works. I'll go back to the polypropylene drainer.

My last Rubbermaid dish drainer was well made and lasted thru years of use. Those days are gone, now they're made in China. The metal used is much lighter gauge which makes for a flimsy product. My drainer arrived dirty, it looked in used condition. The silverware basket (which did not match the drainer) was attached with clear tape. Under the tape was a lot of dirt and a short black hair..yuk! I still haven't found a sturdy replacement drainer. I know it won't be a Rubbermaid product!

This is an on the counter drain rack as it is to large to fit "in sink". It's built well and is a nice beige color.
