I bought this, but it sat in a box for over 4 months because I was scared of the setup. A friend finally forced me into just doing it, and it took less than an hour for the whole deal. It was so quick that I can't believe I let it sit in a box.

A level (the tube with the bubble) proved very useful.

Anyway, it's sturdy, set up so easily, and I love the bars that let you slide hangers all the way across.

It's also nice looking. If you don't need a formal look, you could isntall this directly on an exposed wall for a sort-of utilitarian look. That's actually what I did, and as long as the clothing is neatly hung, it actually looks great.

No complaints whatsoever.

I have personally installed three of these on my own. It is great for that reason. Also, you can get extra shelves (shoe shelves, for instance) to configure it your own way. For a reorganization project, making your closet more useful and user friendly is tops. This set is perfect for that, and doesn't break your wallet to do so.

Please be forewarned, that if you have any thought of possibly using some of the accessories for this system, you MUST set your uprights at the prescribed 22 inches apart.

Also, please note that if your space is not 6 feet wide, and you go with 22 inches between the uprights, you'll end up with a section that could be very, very, narrow and unusable for shelving.

I installed this into a closet to replace a ClosetMaid single shelf closet system. The space was about 5 feet wide. I do not have any intention of using the accessories that require the 22 inch width (basket, shoe rack, pants rack, etc). My first lay out following the directions clearly. I ended up with a space that was about 6 inches wide. So, I reconfigured the uprights and have about 15.5 inches between them. Works well, and doesn't look silly.

The directions are clear. The materials are solid. The anchors they supply are not what you're used to; a cross between a traditional plastic anchor and a molly. They seem to work fine.

Definitely like the system, and intend to purchase the 4-8 foot deluxe system for another closet upgrade.

We like the flexibility that we have in designing our closets with the Rubbermaid Configurations system. They were easy to install and we think they look much better than the similiar closet systems. We also have 2 of the 4'-8' closet kits, but needed <4' for one closet. We paid a lot less for the 4'-8' systems, but didn't want to have to cut everything down so we ordered the 3'-6' system (that we could only find at Amazon).

Our only complaint right now is that the product arrived slightly damaged (the box was beat up and torn and one of the shelves was bent).

I waited for Rubbermaid to come out with this size product for over a year. It was well worth the wait. The value through Amazon.com was great as well. The package arrived damaged and one shelf slightly bent. this was easily remedied. The installation took a little time but was definitely easier than another manufacturer. Love the additional space for hanging as well as the shelving. This really made a big difference in a 43" wide closet space.

I purchased this product on Sunday and being a prime member I wanted it fast and I selected standard 2 day shipping. The system response said it would be delivered on Wednesday however it came a day earlier on Tuesday. First a plug for Prime. If you aren't a member what are you waiting for. It is so convenient and easy it makes purchasing at Amazon so much better. No longer are you wondering when your product is coming, 7 to 10 days. It comes in 2 days no matter what unless you purchase overnight for $3.99, which I have done on occasion. Ok on to the product, after unpacking the box and reading the instructions I installed it in about 30 minutes. My skill level is moderate as I like to work around the house but I am in no way an expert DIY'er. The first step of locating the studs was made easier using a stud finder. Second putting the top rail on by screwing directly into the studs was easy. After that I just followed the instructions and it went in easy. This is really a great product that probably doubled the storage in the closet just by organizing it. I plan to purchase 4 more for the other bedrooms and also find a little nicer one for the master bedroom. The real nice thing is I was able to lower the clothes rod so my 6 year old daughter can reach her clothes.....great product and amazing service from Amazon.

My wife and I just had our second girl and that meant more closet. I gutted the existing closet, patched up the holes and painted everything pink. The contemporary, simplistic look and feel of the configurations shelves and bars made everything look outstanding. I thought it might convey a cheap, dorm-room sort of feeling- not the case. It has basically doubled the shelf and bar space. We used to have those canvas bags that hang by hooks from the stock closet bar and it really sucked. It always looked unorganized and cluttered. Stuff always falling out of the back, swaying as you navigate it, the cubby's never hold enough- you know the deal. This thing has solved all of those problems and then some.

I didn't hit a stud with every screw but it still feels very secure and, at this point, is holding up a lot of material- including ton's of photo albums and other misc clutter that is now discreetly stashed on the top shelf, out of view. That is the beauty if this unit, everything is completely adjustable and customizeable. Depending upon one's closet, you can put it as high off the ground or as low, forget the 86" they tell you it NEEDS to be. Just make sure you have a good amount of space left below the bottom shelves or bar. You also don't need to space them exactly the distances they recommend (unless utilizing accesories like the baskets). Just make sure that they aren't wider than the included shelves.

The only bad thing, and I am digging to find something, is that 1) if overlapping shelves to make one continuous, long shelf, the one on top won't always snap into the bracket (oh yeah, that's another cool feature. the shelves snap into the shelf brackets, securing them really well- no loose jiggling). It's nothing a little zip tie can't cure. 2) when you rest the configurations shelves against the wall while configuring, they tend to leave a mark. It's like the things are made of pencil lead.

Lastly, I have a friend that bought a unit similar in function from an official storage store where you bring in your closet's dimensions and they custom design a unit for you. Dude, he payed like $600+ and it took him ALL DAY to install. His and mine do the same thing (he has 2 girls too) and I payed 75 bucks, with shipping! The hardest part about the configurtions is configuring it. But hey, if you get it wrong it's cake to redo.

Next opportunity, I'm doing mine and the wifes.

We live in a small one bedroom apartment in Boston, and are always looking for ways to maximize storage. We have a large walk-in closet build off the kitchen, but it didn't have any shelves or hooks to store things with! I saw this product online, and I was a little hesitant to spend the money on it, but I'm glad I did!

The hardest part was figuring out the configuration we wanted. I recommend hanging the top rail first, and then laying out your shelves off of it without bolting them down until you have it the way you want it. Also, I had to use the dry wall anchors, since the building is old and the studs are very abnormally located. It is still very sturdy, and is showing no signs of giving out. I have a very decent amount of stuff on the shelves, and it's holding it all wonderfully! Also, it looks great! Now I don't mind people seeing into my closet.

I highly recommend this to anyone looking to maximize their closet storage space!

I bought two of these for the closet in our master bedroom. I installed it by myself and found it to be extremely easy to do!!! It is quite versitile when it comes to configuring the layout. There are so many options, I was finding myself having some trouble deciding on my final set up. It looks great and is very sturdy. I would reccomend this closet organizer to anyone.

This product is quite cool. It took my husband and I about 2 hours (start to finish) but the most time is spent doing the initial set up. Once you set up the top horizontal support across the width of your closet, you're 40% done. Then the vertical supports plus extensions is another 40% and then adding the shelves and poles are easy since then you are just snapping stuff in vs. drilling.

Make sure you read the directions first to get a good idea.

I think there were a few reviewers who did this by themselves. I'm 5 ft tall and I don't think I could have done the first part by myself. Looks great although in retrospect, i wish i had purchased the white one vs. titanium since it's being used in our nursery. Still very cool, very versatile.

PS, I'm in Canada and had this shipped to my husband's hotel in the US. For anyone who is not delivering this to their home, please note this is quite heavy and awkward. Dear hubby thinks it's a great value and we would consider doing this to our closets but he doesn't want to lug something like this ever again through an airport :) And, the reason why i bought it on amazon instead of in canada is because the price is unbeatable. I saved about $100!
