5.0 out of 5 stars Finally BPA free containers!!!
These are the best, they are BPA free (according to rubbermaid website). They are thick and strong. No licks. The lid closes tight and firm. Thanks rubbermaid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbermaid flubbed on this one - see Consumer Reports.
We use locked-lid for transporting food back and forth from our cottage. Locked-lid containers are critical because they inevitably get tipped. These expensive Rubbermaid container covers WARP AND LEAK. The cheaper Rubbermaids do fine. The locked-lid containers of other manufacturers do fine. But the red-edge locked-lid Rubbermaid containers are an expensive failure...

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for locking security & price, January 15, 2010

I just hate it when containers don't seal properly and leak all over everything. These have extremely secure locking lids with side pieces that snap firmly over side slats to guarantee that the lid will not come off. I have purchased many of these and we use them all the time for transporting food for lunch at work or soup for sick friends. Although they are plastic (supposedly BPA free) and glass would be more healthful, as long as we don't store the food in them for a lengthy period, I think they are a great alternative and very convenient. Recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Microwavable but not recommended, December 8, 2009
This review is from: Rubbermaid Lock-its 12-Piece Food Storage Container Set (Kitchen)
I use Rubbermaid containers the most due to price that allows for tossing when used over time. I prefer Lid Lock but reserved for storing dried goods instead of leftover. It does a great job storing leftover when I would rather not waste too many ziplock bags. Rubbermaid is microwavable but I would not recommend. Sometimes the microwaved food scrapes the base off Rubbermaid container and the container must be tossed. It's mostly for storage, and if I need to microwave food, Luttonware is highly recommended.

But the red-edge locked-lid Rubbermaid containers are an expensive failure. Consumer Reports magazine discovered the same problem when rating storage containers. Rubbermaid is a great company. They make other good storage containers, but this one with the red gasket is not a good one.

I am very disappointed with this product. The Lock-it tops are nice and seal well, but the containers are very low quality plastic which blistered, discolored and peeled after just one use in the microwave. Even just warming food on low settings caused damage. Some of the plastic comes off in the food your heating. I tried to call and emailed Rubbermaid and they were completely unresponsive. I would steer clear of this product, I don't feel it is safe. I wasted money on two sets which are now unusable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Decent, December 23, 2009

I bought these because it's so hard to find the lock-n-lock and I figured I'd try these as a substitute. I was pleasantly surprised, I don't think they're as good as the lock-n-lock, but they are running a great second. I can't seem to get the lids to lock on the bottom for easy storage, but other than that, my only other regret is that I didn't order two.

2.0 out of 5 stars Largest containers seal very poorly, September 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rubbermaid Lock-its 12-Piece Food Storage Container Set (Kitchen)
The smallest containers are ok, but the largest containers seal very poorly. They often leak if you invert them while they contain liquid, but performance is inconsistent. The problem may be that the plastic isn't stiff enough and is shaped oddly with sloping walls. The product may also not be manufactured to precise enough tolerances. The locking flaps don't work that well, as you have to make sure the lid is perfectly centered. Several companies make good large locking containers that I've been happy with. They have walls that are perpendicular to both the bottom and, more importantly, the lid.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lock-its don't lock!, May 18, 2011

Overall these containers aren't terrible, but the lids don't work! First of all, sometimes we can't get them to seal/sit on the container all the way. One corner will be up. Secondly, the snappy pieces that "lock" don't all snap down! We've never microwaved them or put them in the dishwasher, so warping isn't the issue. They are just plain disappointing. We've recently purchased two sets of the Rubbermaid 8-Piece Glass Food Storage Container Set with Easy Find Lids instead, and are super happy with them! Our 6-year-old can open them easily, which is very helpful for us.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THESE!, January 16, 2011
This review is from: Rubbermaid Lock-its 12-Piece Food Storage Container Set (Kitchen)
When my daughter started kindergarten, I went in search of containers she could open and close easily for lunch and yet would not spill as she swung her lunchbox around. These definitely fit the bill. They are the perfect size for a recommended serving size lunch. (I do not have the biggest container of this set.)

These are good containers but the majority of the set is very small. If your looking for something you can get more than a hand full of food in, go with something bigger.
