We purchased these containers to pack the kids' breakfasts for daycare. They are the perfect size for a few pancakes and several (7 or so) strawberries cut in half. We can stand them on their side, and they don't leak at all. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I have looked everywhere for a good snack container for my son so that we don't have to buy those expensive individual bags of school snacks. All the containers I found either had snap on lids that his little 5-year old hands just couldn't open or they had giant screw tops that were too wide for his hands. This is perfect. And, when filled, it's a perfect sized snack of goldfish, pretzels, grapes, whatever your little one likes. I ended up buying a bunch just so I'll never run out.

These containers are the perfect size for a sandwich on one side and a vegetable on the other. They fit in our lunchboxes perfectly. I've been using two containers for the last few months and they've held up extremely well, no cracks in the lid or base.

I have been looking for a less expensive alternative to the EasyLunch containers, especially since several reviews for those said that they are not leak proof. I wanted them so I can create my own version of Lunchables (as these tend to be expensive and often not very healthy). I was hoping to find a 3-compartment container but couldn't. I did find these -- Rubbermaind's 3.7 cup TakeAlongs.

Rubbermaid's 3.7 cup TakeAlongs have 2 compartments. The larger one fits a sandwich nicely. And if I cut the sandwich in half, it's deep enough to hold both halves and gives you more space to fit another item in -- a juice box, some veggies, or whatever. The smaller one is still big enough to hold almost all of an apple that has been sliced, and I often pack two items in this section -- like a mini yogurt cup (I like the 1.75oz Dino-o-Ninos) and some crackers, or a few apple slices with a Jif To Go cup of peanut butter.

I haven't tested it with any large amounts of liquid (like soup, for example), but it seals well enough to keep condensation, juice from fruit, and other small amounts of liquid inside. The 2 inner compartments aren't closed off from one another, though, so if you have juice/liquid in one compartment, it will run into the other if the box is tipped. This isn't really a issue for me -- I'll either pack a fruit cup or drain the fruit before I pack it. Also, my kids (the youngest is 5) haven't had any trouble opening the container or resealing it.

The plastic is sturdy enough that I expect it will last quite a while, and the price is right, too. Around $5 for 3 containers so I can have half a dozen for $10. And when one wears out, I don't feel bad about tossing it in the recycle bin.

I read one review for these that said they wouldn't fit in lunchboxes.

I had cottage cheese with frozen berries in one of these containers. I now have berry stains all over the inside of my purse; it made a mess. I had some of the older model of these containers and they were great. This version with the red cap is definitely not leak proof and they crack more easily than the older version.

Rubbermaid claims this product's purpose is to carry liquids.

I bought one set and used them to take milk to work. If the container tips over there's milk everywhere. Completely useless for its intended purpose.

UPDATE (12/12/12)
=============================

I am slightly obsessed with screw-top food storage containers and recently purchased another comparable container, Glad LockWare. Of the 4 I have used, Glad is my new favorite, and the available sizes are just what I'm looking for. My new ranking:

1. Glad LockWare (Glad Lockware Bags, Small, 3 Count (Pack of 3))
2. Ziploc Twist 'N Loc (Ziploc Twist 'N Loc Containers, Small 2 Cup, 3 Containers & 3 Lids (Pack of 2))
3. Rubbermaid TakeAlong Twist and Seal
4. Ball Plastic Freezer Containers (Ball Plastic 8-Ounce Freezer Jars, 5 Pack)

Glad is very similar to Ziploc but made of slightly thicker (sturdier) material, and it stacks better because of the raised circle on the lid. Plus, unlike Ziploc, there is an Extra Small size. Freezer, dishwasher, and microwave safe. BPA-free #5 polypropylene plastic.

So far, all my containers have withstood dishwasher washing and freezing very well with no breakage...except for Rubbermaid. I've had a casualty in the dishwasher - I found one completely cracked. Rubbermaid may not be the sturdiest. Thankfully I've found a comparable replacement size with Glad.

As for leakage, reviewers of all brands seem to have had different experiences. I have not had any leakage issues with any brand, but I normally use these in the freezer and not for travel.
