5.0 out of 5 stars Rubberman's Sonic Assault, May 20, 2001
By
This review is from: Rubberman (Audio CD)
Rubberman's first CD provides the listener with 360 degrees of sonic ingenuity that ranges from the mellow (see first single, More Than I Can Chew), to full out LOUD ROCK (see Molly and Bliss) that will inevitably leave the listener wanting more. Every element in this 4-man group adds an integral element to the music.

this is a versatile album. There's ups and downs. Quite dynamic. I like the softer songs, but to me they're all good. Before I knew it, the Cd was over just when I thought I had just started it. It's that good, ... .

4.0 out of 5 stars Rock on !, April 14, 2003
By
This review is from: Rubberman (Audio CD)
This is the kind of hard rocking CD that isn't groundbreaking but does the job, and does it quite well. Rubberman's debut kind of makes me think of Breaking Benjamin's with less power and a little more on the soft side. Don't get me wrong, you can't mistake those two bands. Jonas doesn't have anything to be ashamed of, his voice can totally match the most powerful voices out there. When the band members are at their best, they can become pretty powerful.

The lyrics can sound simple at time, but you won't have time to notice when they come on tracks like the explosive Bliss that starts the album with a kick. Alice and More Than I Can Chew (the first single) are decent rock tracks that aren't that original, but they do the job. Test of Time is the slowest track here. It's a great ballad that will have you singing along. One of the best songs here, if not the best, is These Lies. This will make you scream (in a good way).

This record isn't all good. Some of the tracks here, without being bad, are average. This is mostly because you've probably heard other bands do similar songs before. I'm talking about songs like Come Deceiving or Happy. They have a lot less power than the other songs, therefore you will probably skip them after a while. Frankly, this is a minor detail because the rest of the album is just great.

I will finish with these final words : if you can see this band live, please do. They have twice the power live ; they will leave you begging for more.
