Sympathy, or writing a check is nice, but its time we made an effort to truly understand what's going on in Haiti, why its people struggle and how Western nations contributed and continue to contribute to the problem. Rubble Nation, Haiti's Pain, Haiti's Promise, by Chris Herlinger and Paul Jeffery does just that by showing us the strength and dignity of Haiti's people, and why these 10 million people must not be forgotten.

First-hand reporting, much of it on the ground in the days and weeks immediately following the January 2010 earthquake and stunning photography that captures the story of Haiti in personal moments of pain, joy and hope, makes this a must read for anyone who wrote a check for Haiti relief or has the courage to find out what's really going on.

This book places us in Haiti after the earthquake, and gives a strong feeling of what it's like to live there.

Although the subject matter is something everyone needs to read, the style of writing was not for me.
