I look forward to hearing more of Nashel's work in the future.
N.S.
Even if you haven't seen the series this music has a ambiance and mood that is great thought provocation in the form of unobtrusive background.

I purchased the CD, Rubicon, as well as the MP3 version, so that I can listen to Rubicon on my Kindle.

I've grown increasingly fond of television scores over the years. With them, composers are challenged to create either singular visions of the same motif, or numerous motifs to be encapsulated by an overall theme in parallel with the respective television show. That's not to say that film scores are any more or less difficult to compose, listen to, or ultimately experience, but sometimes a shorter attention span tends to better serve the listener of a TV score. In spite of the musical and compositional skill hinted at on Peter Nashel's score for the short-lived AMC spy / conspiracy / thriller show Rubicon, there's simply not enough on display here to encapsulate an overall theme, however, Nashel's work does succeed at giving the listener several windows into Rubicon's central motif.

Rubicon's potential effectiveness is shown nearly right away, as "Main Titles" presents a soaring and captivating orchestral tune over an electronic reverb backdrop. "Everybody Out Now!" takes an unsurprisingly different angle; mysterious yet rousing and flitting cymbals are accentuated by a slight, repeating, pinging sound. "Go Home To Bloom," a personal favorite, pits an innocuous piano-based theme against a melody born of Mark Snow's work on The X-Files, when on "He Dropped Out Of the Sky," it's expounded upon and reminds of a modern horror movie intro. However, it's earlier in the score, on fifth track "Up All Night," that Nashel's supposed preferred instrument for Rubicon's score is revealed, a deep and foreboding cello, reminiscent of Michael Giacchino's Lost masterworks and some of Chris Tilton's more jarring work on Fringe.

I loved the complex and abstract experience afforded by AMC's televsion series, Rubicon. The soundtrack was an important part of that heady journey and all fans of the shows will enjoy the dark, suspenseful music provided in this collection. The only lamentable thing is that it is not longer. Bravo, Peter Nashel!

I loved loved loved this great soundtrack! My mom and I are big fans of the show, both equally pissed when it was ended and for the most part, boycott AMC. For a network that shows horrible shows like MadMen, they really disappointed us on this. Rubicon could have kept going and is a fantastic show! I really loved this soundtrack very much! The changes in mood, the haunting sounds, the exact music that you remember from the series was back wonderfully orchestrated. I was very happy and excited to get this wonderful soundtrack in the mail! I give it 2 thumbs way up and it exceeded my expectations completely! Anyone who buys this soundtrack and is hardcore into the series will love it!

Sincerely,
