Rubik's 30th Anniversary Wood Edition

I love the wood cube. But, they are not perfect right out of the box. You have to lube it and work it a while to loosen it up. I used the lube from [...] and it worked great. Also, I wasn't crazy about the stickers so I replaced them. I used the sticker removal tool from [...] and put on some better stickers. Now my cube is in good shape. One of the pros is that it is quieter than a plastic cube. Plastic cubes can be noisy because the pieces are hollow. The cubbies are solid wood on this one and it reduces the noise.

This is a collector's cube. It doesn't move as fluidly as it's plastic cousin. Transparent labels show off the grain but leave the red and orange sides with an identity crisis. And the wood tolerance is a mm or so off.

Man, my collector's Rubik's Cube made from some tree is totally AWESOME! Seriously, it'd worth the price.

The 30th Anniversary Rubik's cube is very tight and almost difficult to rotate (especially if you compare it to a 'speed cube'. That is not a bad thing as tight cubes always loosen up with use. The wooden cube seems to be well constructed. I am dissappointed however in that the 30th anniversary cube's sides are colored via stickons. For some reason I assumed the wooden cube's sides would be painted. The anniversary cube even came with replacement stickon sheets. If the developer expected the stickons to last, I doubt replacement stickons would have been provided. If the 30th anniversary cube did not use stickons, I would rate the cube all fives.

I bought one of these at a Barnes and Nobles near me and couldn't put it down for the following week. The wood gives the solve and entirely different, smoother feel. Happy Birthday Rubik's Cube!

very nice cube. i like the wood design, but the plastic stickers for the colors are ehh. would have been nice if they were embedded or painted. quality built, doesnt feel cheap. Its a little stuff but im sure it will loosen up soon.

Purchased this item for my son for Christmas. I enjoyed playing with my Rubik's cube when I was young and now my college age son has mastered it. This will make a perfect item for his desk.

The 30th Ann. Wood Edition Rubik's Cube is solidly constructed although a bit stiff to twist initially. The stickers are translucent and allow the beautiful wood grain beneath to shine through making it a great gift for the cube lover on your list. Overall a well built gem to behold and enjoy.

If you want it to actually play with, you'll be sorry. Colors should have been painted but are half ass stuck on stickers. most were not centered on the squares well at all. Playing with it too much would start screwing up the stickers even more.

I have plenty of other cubes to play with and am fine with leaving this one on the shelf for looks but my original intention was to play with it, that is why such the low rating.

I really love the fact that they released a Special Edition Wooden Rubik's Cube to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Rubik's Cube which was first released in 1980. This really moves great and very smoothly. I love the fact that it's madeout of wood just like the first wooden prototype that Erno Rubik created in the late 70's. Overall, this is a great buy for any Rubik's enthusiast.

A must have for Rubik's Cube enthusiasts. I have been solving my regular cube for a while now and it is awesome to break another cube in. Also it is a little more of a challenge as I am so used to the colour set of my original cube it takes me longer to solve as I am not used to the colour pattern. A lot of fun!
