Book Description

Meet Ruby. She’s your average (somewhat dorky) ice-cream eating, garden-loving teenager, who is constantly being annoyed by her little brother, is best friends with possibly the only Goth kid in town and, oh yeah…she sees fairies.

After Nick Martino (possibly the hottest guy she’s ever known) finally asks her out, she can barely manage a two-word sentence when a bizarre incident strikes their lakeside town.Stumbling bare-foot through some interesting dates, will she ever find love? And what does Ruby do when more strange events continue to occur? Will she keep her gift of Fairy Sight a secret? As an ancient myth unfolds and new mystic fairy tales come to life, Ruby and her menagerie of friends tackle some extraordinary circumstances with her very ordinary abilities in this modern day fairy tale. See what legends come to life in “Ruby Blue,” a young adult fantasy fiction novel and the first installment of the Ruby Blue series.

5.0 out of 5 stars We're Not In Kansas Anymore! February 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Cassar knows how to write a book that keeps you coming back for more! Ruby Blue is a magnificent story about a teenager, Ruby Blue, and her friends. Ruby is not a typical teenager because she has been able to see what no one else can, since she was five years old, Ruby can see fairies. What young girl doesn't want to be able to do things that no one else can? Between being friends with two totally awesome fairies and her goth/gay best friend Jeremy, Ruby does her best to lead a typical teenagers life, but for her, life has other plans. Now, she is not only faced with dating the hottest guy in school (Mr. Hottness to you), she is also facing a rather large, scaley, and smelly foe.
Cassar's Ruby Blue is a page turner! She not only keeps you coming back for more she knows how to make her characters real. They are people that you know or, like me, remind you of yourself. Ruby Blue is spectacular and does not disappoint. My only complaint is that I don't know when they next one is coming out!
This is definitely a must read! Enjoy! I know I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lions and Tigers & Bears, Oh My! April 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Actually, there are no lions...or tigers...or bears. Just a no-so-ordinary teenager, her gay best friend, fairies & a dragon...oh, and her cute new boyfriend. This story fabulous.

I will not rehash the plot summary as several other reviewers have done just that. What I will say is that this was a fabulous YA paranormal adventure, that didn't feel all that YA. The writing was fabulous. First, the characters are extremely well developed and felt like old friends. I felt like I new these characters and was invested in them. Second, the plot itself cruised right along. The story never dragged and kept me engaged to end. I had a hard time putting the book down because I wanted to know (right away) what was going to happen next. Finally, I really enjoyed the fact that the story reached a satisfying ending, but still leaves room from another book to continue Ruby's story.

This was a great book and encourage anyone to pick up this book by an extremely talented author.

4.0 out of 5 stars UNIQUE AND FUN!! August 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
"Ruby Blue" is a delightful little treat aimed at younger readers, but can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. The characters are sassy, the fast-moving, quirky plot a wonderful change from the usually overdone vampires, werewolves and witches theme, and the dialogue utterly hilarious. I read this charmingly fun book in less than two days and am looking forward to reading the next one in this series to see what Ruby and her friends are up to!
