Book Description

February 20, 2003
Ruthless Ruby is a CEO who enjoys exercising her power in and out of the office. She particularly relishes dominating male business associates who misjudge her as weak. However, she does not reserve her conquests to the boardroom. Her sexual hunger knows few bounds; outside the office as well as behind her desk, she draws men to worship and serve her. When Ruby's assistant begins to challenge her sexual dominance, it is time for Ruby to show her who's boss.

More About the Author

I became addicted to words at an early age. I began reading when I was four. I wrote my first story at five years old and my first poem at seven. Since then, I've written plays, tutorials, marketing brochures, software specifications, self-help books, press releases, a five-hundred page dissertation, and of course, erotica and erotic romance.

My lifelong interests in sex and the written word became serendipitously entwined more than a decade ago when I read my first Black Lace book by Portia da Costa. Her work inspired me to take my fantasies out of the closet (and the private email files) and expose them to the world. The rest, as they say, is history (although granted, no more than a minor footnote!)

My work tends to be explicit, but I'm more interested in the emotional than the physical aspects of sexuality. I'm fascinated by the role of imagination and fantasy in stimulating desire. Much of my work explores themes in the area of dominance and submission. However, I write in a wide range of sub-genres including gay and lesbian erotica, erotic suspense, science fiction and paranormal.

In addition to writing, I have edited a number of multi-author collections. Currently I'm the editor for the single author charity erotica series COMING TOGETHER PRESENTS (http://www.eroticanthology.com). Each author contributes his or her work for free after designating a charity to receive all proceeds. In the last year we have published volumes benefiting Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN). Our next release will support multiple sclerosis research.

I've always loved traveling; my husband seduced me in a Burmese restaurant by telling me tales of his foreign escapades. Since then I have visited every continent except Australia, although I still have a long travel wish list. Currently I live with him and our two exceptional felines in Southeast Asia, where I dream about new adventures.

3.0 out of 5 stars The title is misleading......................., July 30, 2003

This review is from: Ruby's Rules (Paperback)
Ms. Sarai is a wonderful writer of erotica....I just loved Raw Silk and Incognito but Ruby's Rules falls short of expectation.

The story is centered on Ruby Chen a young sexually dominating CEO, her assistant Margaret, and corporate rival Rick Martell. We see the story unravel with all three characters points of view which was interesting except a little distracting. Although the book is called Ruby's Rules I felt like she wasn't much in control and the rules changed as often as the wind blew. Yet the book definetly explored BDSM and the roll of a novice dominatrix in Margaret, Rubies Assitant.

Although, there was lots or sex I felt the plot and characters unravel as we came to the end of the book. I say the book could have been better considering the talents of Ms. Sarai.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ruby's Rules, A Review from the Editorof Blue Erotica, March 30, 2003

This review is from: Ruby's Rules (Paperback)
Ruby's Rules is a fast paced novel done in a revolving first person point of view. It revolves around five main characters (one of which is only a memory of a deceased and much loved man) Ruby and Rick, who are locked in a power struggle both professionally and personally, each used to being dominant, and each secretly wishing to surrender.

Throughout the novel, this reader was particularly captivated by the character of Margaret, who had been a seventeen year long D/s slave, and who makes a beautiful transition following her master's death from owned to owner.

The author uses the relationship between Margaret and Luna to demonstrate the loving side of BDSM and the relationship between Ruby and Rick to demonstrate the power struggle we all fight.

It is this reader's opinion that Ms. Sarai has done an amazing job of giving readers a glimpse at almost everything the BDSM lifestyle has to offer. She has shown the dedication of a lifestyle slave, and her journey of discovery in making a life after her master's death. She's given us the player and conquest mindset of Ruby and Rick throughout the beginning of the book, and taken the reader along with them as their feelings progressed naturally to something much deeper allowing us, as the reader to glimpse their internal confusion. The differing first person point of view style takes some getting used to, but it really pays off in the way the story comes together.
