Book Description

Zits Sketchbook April 1, 2007
When contemplating what to name their strip, Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman sought the insight of Charles Schulz, who told them that Zits was "the worst name for a comic strip since Peanuts." It makes perfect sense then that Zits has achieved Peanuts-like notoriety.

Equally enjoyed by teens and their parental counterparts, Zits appealingly tackles teen issues with equal parts grace and wit. Parents Connie and Walt masterfully guide fifteen-year-old Jeremy Duncan through the pratfalls of teenagedom accompanied by his girlfriend Sara and best friends Hector and Pierce.

I am a 63 year old cartoon addict. That plus the fact that this is how boys are (as teenagers) makes these througly enjoyable chracters and cartoons; this book is no exception.

5.0 out of 5 stars One-hundred percent ZITS!, May 1, 2010
By
This review is from: Rude, Crude, and Tattooed: Zits Sketchbook Number 12 (Paperback)
Jeremy is mystified by his parents inability to understand modern life. Could he be adopted?

You'll find a pleasant continuation of Jeremy's trials in Rude, Crude, and Tattooed: Zits Sketchbook Number 12. Oh, and there are even some trials for Mom and Dad as well!

And, of course when Dad decides they should all go camping where he stayed when he was Jeremy's age...

Jeremy: "Tell me again why we're doing this?," standing outside a mini-mart.
Mom: "It's a vacation. Jeremy! We're going to spend time together and reconnect as a family."
Dad: "I love corn nuts even if they do give me gas," as he is eating corn nuts.
Jeremy: "Tell me one more time why we're doing this."
Mom: "Because we have to."

Jeremy: "Mom! This place is a dump!"
Mom: "We're camping! Putting up with the inconvenience is half the fun."
Jeremy: "What's the other half?"
Mom: "Going home."
Dad: "Whose turn is it to shower today?"

And the trials of Job...

Jeremy: "Hey, Mom! Remember when you got all mad at me when you thought I lost that permission slip?"
Mom: "What permission slip?"
Jeremy: "This one from the field trip to the science museum."
Mom: "Jeremy, that's when you were in seventh grade!"
Jeremy (cleaning his backpack in high school): "The point is, I didn't lose it!"

You just gotta 1) love, 2) relate to, or 3) relive your own experiences in ZITS!

The authors have real insight into the teen mind. I have read this more then once and still laugh: Time does not dull its impact.
