This is fantastic!,
This review is from: Rudolph Frosty & Friends (Blister) (Audio CD)
When I was growing up back in the seventies, I looked forward every Christmas to watching the Rudolph, Frosty, and Santa cartoons. Having this CD and listening to the music selections from the cartoons brings lots of memories back to mind. I love to hear these old favorites! This is a must have for anyone who remembers these cartoons as fondly as I do.

The original recordings from acclaimed Rankin Bass Specials,
By
This review is from: Rudolph, Frosty & Friends' Favorite Christmas Songs (Audio CD)
This is probably the best single cd overview of original recordings from holiday Christmas Specials, certainly of Rankin-Bass specials. It contains seven recordings from Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer like "Jingle Jangle Jingle" and "We're A Couple Of Misfits" (only the instrumental overture and finale are missing and they can be found on the Cd Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer that is erroneously credited to only Burl Ives). Also included here are Santa Claus Is Coming To Town's title track, "First Toymaker To The King," "No More Toymakers To The King," and the super delightful "Put One Foot In Front Of The Other". Frosty is represented by its Jimmy Durante-sung title track and the Little Drummer Boy special is represented by its title track as well.
The only significant holiday tv special recordings not included here are the nifty "Heat Miser" and "Snow Miser" from Rankin-Bass's Year Without A Santa Claus (you can find those on Nick At Nite's A Classic Cartoon Christmas Too) and A Charlie Brown Christmas' "Christmas Time Is Here," "Hark The Herald," and "O Tannenbaum" (available on Vince Guaraldi's Christmas cd and on Nick At Nite's A Classic Cartoon Christmas). Plus, "Welcome Christmas" and "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" from How The Grinch Stole Christmas (also found on A Classic Cartoon Christmas). All of these songs will make you feel like a kid again. Happy listening!

Rankin/Bass Greatest Hits (Almost),
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rudolph, Frosty & Friends' Favorite Christmas Songs (Audio CD)
"Rudolph, Frosty and Friends Favorite Christmas Songs" is a fun little Christmas CD. It has a hodge-podge of hits from four Rankin/Bass Christmas specials ("Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," "The Little Drummer Boy" and "Frosty the Snowman."), featuring such great Holiday singers as Burl Ives, Jimmy Durante and Fred Astair. All of the songs are well done, and come straight off the soundtrack for the Christmas special. Rankin/Bass has always meant holiday fun, and this CD is no exception. The only complaint about this CD is that it could have been better. Rankin/Bass has a treasure horde of Christmas songs, both traditional and original. Songs from "The Year Without a Santa Claus" would have been appreciated. For what it is, it is a good CD. But it could have been better. Ah well, "Jingle, Jingle, Jingle, I can hear those sleigh bells ring, I am old Kris Kringle, I'm the king of jingle ling..."

Gotta Love the Rankin-Bass-masters!,

I was shopping this Holiday season and this CD was playing on the store's sound system. I tried to get them to sell it to me (It belonged to an employee) but I finally tracked it down. It was such a wonderful place to be: Out and about in the Christmas Season with this Rankin-Bass-fest filling the air with memories of a (now) thirty-something's childhood (1970's) Christmases. An absolute delight and despite the fact that it's thrown together from various Christmas specials, is more cohesive than most "mainstream" albums. Also, I now want to be a dentist!

Holiday Masterpieces on CD...,

This CD is a MUST have for ANY true fan of truly masterful holiday classics!!! This CD contains spliced versions of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman" (my personal favorite). This CD would have been better if the complete soundtracks to all four of the films presented here were included. They just don't make them like this anymore. Buy one now before it's gone!

Many favorite childhood songs are here on this disc. You can't help but feel better after listening to songs like "Put One Foot in Front of the Other" and "The Most Wonderful Day of the Year". It's also great fun to be able to share these terrific songs with your kids. You'll play this one over and over. You may even play it too much.

Wrap Youself Up in Christmas Memories!!,

This review is from: Rudolph, Frosty & Friends' Favorite Christmas Songs (Audio CD)
Most of the songs you remember from those fantastic Rankin & Bass Christmas cartoons are presented here on one disk. Tunes from "Rudolph" sung by Burl Ives, Fred Astaire singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and Jimmy Durante's version of "Frosty The Snowman" are the highlights of this disk. But the other tunes here are all ones you know by heart as well if you grew up watching these timeless cartoons. And though this cd only covers "Rudolph", "Frosty", "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and the title song to "The Little Drummer Boy", it's perfect background music when putting up the tree, or wrapping gifts, and the kids love listening to it on the way to Grandma's house. If only they could have included "Heat Miser" and "Freeze Miser", and maybe a tune or two from "The Grinch" this would have been the perfect Christmas cartoon soundtrack.

Music that brings back holiday memories,
This review is from: Rudolph, Frosty & Friends' Favorite Christmas Songs (Audio CD)
"Rudolph, Frosty and Friends' Favorite Christmas Songs" is a compilation CD. It brings together a collection of songs from four installments in a popular series of animated holiday films. Specifically, the songs on this CD come from "Frosty the Snowman," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and "The Little Drummer Boy."I have fond memories of watching those animated specials on television, so I really love this CD. The CD includes both familiar holiday standards, as well as songs which are specific to these animated films. Some show business legends sing several of the songs: Jimmy Durante ("Frosty the Snowman"), Fred Astaire ("Santa Claus is Comin' to Town"), and Burl Ives ("Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and two others). My favorite selections are the songs specific to the animated films and their characters: "Put One Foot in Front of the Other" (from "Santa Claus..."), a wonderful duet between Mickey Rooney and Keenan Wynn; "We're a Couple of Misfits" (from "Rudolph..."), sung by Billie Richards and Paul Soles; and more. A great CD for children, and for adults who still love these characters.

This review is from: Rudolph, Frosty & Friends' Favorite Christmas Songs (Audio CD)
This is a great CD, the songs are fun and they bring back good memories of listening to the songs when I was little and really I still love to listen to these songs and always will. I also have fond memories of watching the Christmas specials that these songs are from! All the songs on the CD are good but the best are Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Frosty The Snowman, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Holly Jolly Christmas, Jingle, Jingle, Jingle and Silver and Gold. I very highly recommend this CD for both the young and the young at heart!

All The Memories Of Christmas You Ever Had.... All In One CD!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Rudolph, Frosty & Friends' Favorite Christmas Songs (Audio CD)
This has every song from ALL the classic christmas movies.
Including Rudolph ( great lively music ), the Little Drummer Boy ( the best of the best ) and other really cool songs. Even if your favorite movie isn't one of the most popular ones, you'll still find all your favorite songs. So, instead of buying remakes of these songs ( like Kidz Bop Christmas ) why not actually buy this? Here's a list of the movies and a rating, 1 being the worst and 10 being the best. Rudolph- 10 Always a favorite! Santa Claus is coming to town- 9 Great! The Little Drummer Boy- 10++++ AWESOME!!!!!!!!! |
