Hi everyone, I'm one of the developer's for the Nintendo DS version of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I'd like to take the time to tell you our game has no relation to the game-play of the Nintendo Wii version. The DS version features four full stories, one being the original from the TV special, over 20 individual types of mini-games such as: build a snowman, Hermey's (hermie's?) dentistry, build a scene, paint by numbers, etc. We also have 100+ minigames total (of the 20 individual types of minigames we feature repeat plays with different resources or goals).

I hope this helps you make your decision this holiday, Thanks for reading!

(Also I didn't know what to rate the game, a 5 would clearly be biased in its favor and I'm avoiding a 1 because I don't want to harm its appeal, I can't leave it blank so I'm putting a 3 in the attempts to be as neutral as possible).

Well I read the reviews for the WII version of this game and was wishing I hadn't pre ordered it for the DS. However, it is very diffent! There are 22 mini games to play and most of them have 5+ levels. No they are not meant for an adult but I enjoy it anyway. I think its better suited for 12 and under. There are also 4 stories and each has its own games as you 'read' it. It seems to follow the movie exactly. I LOVE this movie and all the characters in it and all of them are in the game too! I like mini games and play the DS to keep my mind in tune so I give this game an A+!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT Game for Small Children and Children at Heart!, November 18, 2010

I pre-ordered Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (NDS) for my two sons, ages 4 and 8. We received it a few days ago and it has been a hit- especially with my 4 year old!

The games are simple, but entertaining and easy for young ones to understand. Even my 8 year old, who's favorite games include Lego Star Wars and Transformers, has spent a good amount of time playing Rudolph. (And I must admit, I sat down to check the game out and ended up spending 2 hours playing... and that was with most of the mini games still locked!)

If you want a challenging game, this is not it. If you want a simple, nostalgic game where you and your kids can gather around a DS and take turns making snowmen and decorating Christmas scenes, catching toys in Santa's bag and helping Rudolph leap from roof to roof delivering gifts, I would definately recommend Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for little ones, November 27, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (Video Game)
I am a teacher of Special Ed kids ages 5-8. This game is great to get kids to practice their fine motor skills. Some little ones, K and 1st grade, may need a little help reading the stories but once they have it I am sure they would be busy and happy for hours and hours. It uses much of the same dialog from the movie. The likenesses of the characters are perfect. Even if you had to do some reading with the kids to help them initially, reading with your child is a great thing, even if it is on the DS. Most people use these devices to keep their kids busy and quiet, but having something to do together is awesome. I am noticing a trend with DS games in particular including education elements within the games. I have seen some great reading and math games geared for kids grade 2 and below. I say Happy Holidays Rudolph! My kids at school will love this game and I think your little ones will too. Who knows, lots of us grew up with Rudolph, I wouldn't be surprised if adults enjoy it too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun! Fun! Fun!, December 7, 2010

Fun! Fun! Fun! is how my 7 year old daughter describes the games and stories in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. In all honesty... I am a bit biased towards the game..... I'm the writer of the three original stories you'll find alongside the original story in this DS game. From my own experience of working with the designer, graphic artists, and developers at Glyphic Entertainment, I can assure the parents out there that they've taken their time researching and developing games that are fun, challenging, and hard to put down. As for my stories, they involve all the characters you're already familiar with from the movie (yes, I had fun working/writing about with these characters!).

The stories become personalized when you or your child enter his/her name into the game... my daughter got a kick out of seeing her name in the stories, as if she were right there with Hermey and Rudolph! The games are incorporated into the stories, giving kids a good mix of reading and games. For the first time ever, I found myself sitting down with my daughter to play a DS game together. It was a good bonding experience as we read through the stories and played many of the games. Now she wants me to leave her alone so she can play the games without my taking over! Yes, these games can be addictive, even if they're geared towards grade-school children and younger.

I hope you and your children enjoy the games and stories in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer DS game!

5.0 out of 5 stars My 5 yr old niece has borrowed the game permanently, March 22, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

I purchased this game because I love Christmas and Rudolph is one of my favorite Christmas characters. It got me into the holiday spirit and I played it every time I had a few minutes to spare.

The great thing about this game is you can read through the stories while playing the games and after you read each story the mini games open up so you don't need to read through the story to play each one again.

My nieces came over and they always check out any new games I have bought. My 5 year old niece put this in and played for hours. I let her borrow the game when she went home (this was the day after Christmas). It is now March and she is still playing the game. I asked it for it back last month but she asked for longer time because she was still playing it. This week I bought another copy of the game and told her to keep mine. You would have thought it was Christmas again the way her face lit up with that smile and I got a big hug!

For me this game is more about the nostalgia that comes along with it. It's just a simple game to sit down and enjoy with no frustrations. I'm glad my niece liked it as much (if not more) than me.

This game has a bunch of mini games that are extremely entertaining and keep my 4-year-old Rudolph-obsessed kiddo entertained. It appears to have all the characters from the classic movie in it as well.

Very nice overall. I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.

I haven't actually played this game, but my 6 year old played it all the time last year. Now that he's 7 and it's Christmastime again, he's back to playing it a lot.

There's not too many holiday games and this one is worth the money.
