great at-home reference for peds resident,
By baby bean doc "baby doc" (Cleveland, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rudolph's Fundamentals of Pediatrics: Third Edition (Paperback)
This is a keeper for any peds resident's personal library, and it should probably be the go-to book. Rudolph's is comparable to Nelson's in its scope, detail, and comprehensive subject matter in pediatrics. I think where Rudolph's tops Nelsons is in readability--the writing won't put you to sleep quite as easily, the charts & tables are very helpful, and the font is also much more reader-friendly. Nowadays, if you're a resident, you really should be current and be able to know what's beyond the textbooks (i.e., journal literature). However, Rudolph's is a great basic place to start when learning a topic in Peds.

Ok first I am Bulgarian and our textbooks are a little bit different as structure but not as information. This textbook is useful but there are some misses .It`s about the Gastro. chapter it`s not complete especially peptic ulcer, Crohn`s disease and ulcerative colitis.Nutrition section tells nothing about basic schemes of feeding and use of water till 6th month. There are no or they are vague Lab Results. The positive is the new treatment of most of the disease the informative tables&figs. In general this book is useful for all the GPs or students who need to pass their exam.pediatricians may use it for quick scan of some information.
