Looking for another Yann Tiersen CD to add to your collection now that you have discovered the soundtrack from "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain"? "Rue des Cascades" is the perfect choice. There are actually four songs on this CD that are used in the film plus the theme song from "La Vie Revée des Anges." But that's just the beginning!

From the simple but haunting melodies of the 3 "comptines" to the Celtic undertones of "Déjà Loin" and "C'était Ici" he has the ability to transport you into his world. The visual images that come to mind while listening to "La Chambre" and "La Fenêtre" are that you are actually in his room looking out over his Parisian neighborhood!

This album (1996) is pure Yann Tiersen genius at his best.

I purchased this after learning that Yann Tiersen was responsible for the Amelie soundtrack. I love this CD. Tiersen's music is reminiscent of Satie but is also creative and original in it's own way. The result of Tiersen's work is simply beautiful and amazing. Lovers of interesting and creative music will appreciate Tiersen's emotion and technique. I am definitely buying more of Tiersen's music in the future.

Very modern, haunting, enjoyable. This must be the music the director of "Amelie" heard that prompted him to ask Yann Tiersen to write the music for "Amelie." I love this CD and want to hear more of this man's music.

yann tiersen is an amazing musician. i've never heard someone play with such beauty and soul. i used to think mike oldfield wrote beautiful compositions and that each note played came from the heart. mr. tiersen does that with amazing fluidity. i've never heard such beautifully played short compositions. it's like every second of these songs has import. they tug at the heart strings. like most of us, i've first heard his music from Amelie. and the previous reviews mention, some of the songs on here are on the soundtrack. yann plays a variety of instruments from toy pianos, to accordeons, mandolines and banjo. his music is simple but emotionally complex. i can't recommend his recordings enough. i used to have Le Phare, but got stolen from my car. his live "C'Etait ici" is also amazing.

This is one of the best CD I've ever heard. There is no other equal to it.
