This review is from: Rue Melo (Dig) (Audio CD)
Rue Melo is a very talented young singer/songwriter with a very eclectic background. Definitively someone you'll want to keep your eyes on, because she's going to be HUGE!
Born in Paris, France from a French mother and Uruguayan father, she was fed latin, jazz, blues, reggae, and classical music in her early years. When she was barely 4 years old, Rue would dance and sing on stage when her dad's band "Los Maniseros" played at Paris's world famous "New Morning". Rue Melo moved to New York City when she was 9, and to Cali 3 years later. She writes her own lyrics where she alternates English, French and Spanish, and her melodies are a delectable mix. In 2005, when she met with her musicians, guitarist Martin Estrada, bassist Bryan Bush, and drummer Idris al-Mutazz Tat, it was an immediate "coup de foudre". Add to that seasoned producer Bernd Burgdorf, who produces for Linda Perry, Pink, Aguilera... and Rue's own brother Manny Melo, who was already producing for Rue way back in the beginning... The sound they have come up with is unique, refreshing and addictive. Five Stars! Definitively.
