By the time their third album hit the the shelves ready for the world's formula was fading down, this album lacked the potential that made their first two albums "Ready for the world'' and ''long time coming'' classics, but with the rise of new jack swing and lots of new artists emerging ready for the world tries to adapt to this trend with the first single "my girly''which is a light classic upbeat new jack track with a catchy chorus, and the second single ''gently''which is one of their strongest ballads, lead singer melvin riley jr's vocals really shine on this track, although this album wasnt a big on the charts or went platinum like their debut this is still a good album, even though with its age it seems dated but its good for those nastolgic 80's music lovers, this album is strickly for die hard Ready for the World and new jack swing fans. 1991's ''Straight Down to Business'' is the follow up to this album.

Ready For The World is my favorite r&b boy band from the 80's. I have all their cd's and even saw them in concert in the summer of 1985. Even though their first cd is one my my all time favorites, I cannot deny Ruff N Ready from being my favorite release from them. Love the all around change in sound from their previous releases. I just sorry that they aren't still recording together and releasing new music. I highly recommend this cd.

Even loved his solo album. My favorite RNB group of all time.First album was the best but all 4 albums are solid. From flint Michigan they set the tone for Jodeci 112 H. Town and all bands of that nature. This album is as good as their 2nd and better than their fourth album.
