A Kid's Review

This is a good CD but what the heck is with the MUSIC it sounds like my old mario game, swiss! what the hell you do to eves CD shes a awsome rapper but shes rappin to very sad beats. And Philly. Philly is scary (the chorus) i dont know what it sounds like on the uncencored CD but the cencored CD sounds like they are...seriously. I give eve 2 of the 5 stars for puttin up with rappin to those beats they are aight but they get anoyin specially aint got no dough at the beginin but its a PHAT SONG. I give 1 and a half more for her tight lyrics and the other stars for what he CDs bout and for makin it in the rap game. EVE u da bomb Keep up the good work and tell swiss to fix the beats on ya new CD peace out

Hard hip-hop but lady-like at the same time,

The tracks were very unique and Eve was very lyrical. Her style is very distinctive, rough, but yet lady-like. Her music touches on some true issues and what goes on in the hip-hop world. My favorite is Love is Blind, because I can relate. Thanks Eve.

Let me just say that I don't think Eve is all that great. When compared to her contemporaries, she sorely lacks in so many categories. She never had one of the greatest pen her lyrics like Lil' Kim. She doesn't have much of a lyrical arsenal, no matter how fictional, like Foxy (I Shot Ya Remix, anyone?). Bahamadia, Lauryn Hill, Rah Digga, or Psalm One? She's not even in the same stratosphere. So what makes Eve appealing to so many people (myself not included)? My theory is that an average rapper got together with the hottest crew out (at the time) and the result is three mediocre discs. What appeals her to most is her content, which is understandable. The concepts for "Love Is Blind" and "Heaven Only Knows" are as insightful as they are relevant. "What Y'all Want [Remix] is a nice little throw in and "Gotta Man" was a nice little single for a while. Outside of those joints, things begin to fall apart.
The problem I kept running into was Swiss Beat's lifeless production coupled with the fact that Eve's flow isn't all that interesting. Too many of the tracks sound like they were made on Swiss' casio and Eve is pretty much saying the same thing in 75% of the songs. For example, "Philly Philly" would be a solid song if the hook and production weren't so lame (her collabo with Beans on his album was way better) and "Let's Talk About" doesn't work at all. Also, "Stuck Up" and "Ain't Got No DOugh" are just plain corny and none of the skits add anything to the album whatsoever. Ruff Ryder's First Lady is a decent album that lacks in places. Despite the holes, it's still worth looking into if you can find it in the used bin for less than $5. Just don't go into it expecting to be blown away. Standout Tracks: Heaven Only Knows, Love Is Blind, Scenario 2000 feat. DMX, The Lox, & Drag On, and What Y'all Want [Remix]

Eve's Debuet album Eve Ruff Ryders First Lady is A very good album. It has used lyrics that touch the things that happen in the world like love is blind. This album shows that Eve is one of those rappers that are not afraid of speaking her mind like lil' kim. Swizz beats did a good job. The beats to all of the songs have the vibe of the lyrics like with "What Ya'll Want."Ruff Ryders did a song together called Secrenio 2000 which was a good song. The thing is I bought the un-edited version and it was edited but persongaly i think it sound more cool with the DMX part edited. Eve has a catchy voice with catchy lyrics. All of the songs rock on this c.d. I rate this c.d. 5\5

The Ruff Ryders has proven once again that they know how to please people. All they albums is off the hook and now Eve's album and lyrics has proven to manyyoung woman that there is always a way to handle things and that they can be whatever they want. Eve is a good role model that speakes from the heart. It would be a pleasure to meet all the Ruff Ryders one day. Keep handling your business, making your records. Big up all yall peoples. This comes straight form the heart of a spanish/irish teenager. Peace Out.
