Nothing says romance like chocolate fondue, and this chocolate fondue set melts hearts as easily as it melts chocolate. To start with, it's beautiful--the heavy, black, cast-iron stand; the brass-handled, tin-lined, copper pot; the heavy porcelain insert; the copper lid with its brass knob; and the shapely porcelain spoon all resonate with tradition. It functions beautifully, too. Copper conducts heat quicker than any other cookware material (think copper electricity wires), which means the heat spreads evenly, and tin conducts heat nearly as well as copper. So all this double-boiler needs is a little candle (included) to melt chocolate with the gentleness it requires. The porcelain insert holds 1 cup of chocolate, an ample quantity for coating bananas and other fruits or pound cake cubes for up to six diners.
