I purchased a set of these boots for my 13 1/2 year old dog who still loves to go on one mile walks. The winter gets too cold for him, and I thought these boots would support him in continuing his walks. They have worked perfectly! He goes out in -1 degree Fahrenheit temps and can do the whole mile without getting frozen. I cinch them on very tight and have not had an incident where they fall off. I have had other boots fall off, so I was wary of these at first. I would recommend these boots for any dog that needs winter paw support in order to enjoy going outside. I don't know how they would last for a younger dog going much longer periods of time in the snow. They are great for around 30 minutes at a time.

Before I bought these I read reviews on a number of sites. Some people had not problems with them, some have nothing but problems with them. I also went to the Ruff Wear site and read all the instructions and reviews that had tricks to make them stay on as well as viewed the video about how to put them on.

I have a race lineage Siberian Husky. She does not race though, these were purchased for our 1-2 hours walks so that when it snows out she doesn't get ice packed between her toes and more importantly so that she does not get injured by the regular rock salt that some people (and the city) use. She is not wild about booties but the Ultra Paws Durable Booties that I had never came off and she does adjust to them. I just wanted a set that had more traction for the ice we sometimes run into during our walks.

I tried every trick in the book and the Ruff Wear Polar Treks would not stay on longer than 4 minutes. And not from her trying to get them off. They just kept coming off while she walked. The problem is very simple. The strap mechanism is so poorly designed that you cannot cinch it enough to make it stay. And the top closure is worthless. The Ultra Paws uses tow separate Velcro straps, one of which uses a type of buckle that allows the lower strap to be securely tightened without putting the leg circulation at risk.

It is a shame since we use aRuff Wear Collar and the WebMaster Harness and love them (I use an older model for rainy weather and the new one for normal use and when she is doing Therapy work. And I keep a spare at home just in case)..

This time though, Ruff Wear failed miserably.

We still have trouble getting it to stay on for very long even after watching videos and practicing.
While on, it certainly does as advertised and protects our pet's feet in the extreme arctic temperatures of interior Alaska.

For the money, I wouldn't recommend these boots. The tread is good, the material of the upper part is nice, but the boots don't stay on. I purchased them because they are taller boots and all of the shorter ones come off so quickly, I thought with the extra height and for the money, these would stay on better, but I was wrong. Sinched as tightly as they could be, the boots were all off within five minutes of my dog running in 8" snow.

This is a very nice product and a nice design.

Be warned.. it will take a lot of traning to get your dog to wear this and lots of training for you to figure out the best way to fit it correctly so that it will stay on.

These boots seemed like they would be great but I'm having a hard time keeping them on the dog. The sole is sturdy and the straps work fine. If they were longer they would keep more snow out and probably stay on better. For the price, they should fit better. Maybe the sizing should not only be the width of the paw, but also the length of the leg.
