I'm sorry to have to do this to this product, I really wanted it to be a successful design. I love Ruger products but this co-developed product with Lasermax is not a product I would/could recommend. There are many issues with this product that make it sub-par if not only a novelty item at best. Its not worth anywhere near the $80-$100 retail price. This laser is just a cheaply made product I wish I never purchased. The design though slick looking was not intelligently thought out.

Design flaws:
(A) The on/off switch is a push rod that can be easily activated with a slight nudge on either side, causing the battery to drain. (A push button switch like most flashlights would have been a much better design) I think they wanted to have an ambidextrous design but failed due to the fact that you would have to deal with the opposite side just to turn the laser off.
(B) There are no rubber o-rings to seal and protect this laser from wet conditions.
(C) To access the battery you need a phillips screwdriver. (What's wrong with that you ask? Keep Reading)
(D) To adjust the laser you need a tiny allen wrench / hex-key. (Again Keep Reading)
(E) To install the laser you need a flat head screwdriver. (That's 3 tools mentioned in C,D,&E just to install, adjust and maintain this laser. A better design would use the same tool for all three tasks)
(F) The battery the laser uses is not a very common battery one can easily find without going online.
(G) Replacing the battery can be a challenge since you can't get a grip on it once its installed.

This product really upsets me because it could have been a great must have item.

I bought this to put on my 10/22TD, it's a factory replacement for the stock fore-end retainer ring. The laser works.

The problem is that if you touch it, you can wriggle it a bit at the laser-end because it's just not that tight-fitting other than the retainer rings and the casing is plastic, so it flexes. What this needs is a metal housing that can't flex, or a third retaining ring that anchors the end to the barrel. Otherwise, if you bump it, you're likely to shift the laser just a tiny little bit, which is going to be a great big bit, at 25 or 50 yards.

This Laser was easy to install and zero in on the target. It took about 5 shots and I was zeroed in. It has decent visibility in the day time as well. You can shoot from the hip with this puppy on your 10/22. Love it!!!

I bought the 1022 with laser on clearance at Academy, an awesome place to buy btw for 268. Really I wanted the stock carbine with synthetic stock but they are hard to find. I figure this makes the gunn 200 and the laser 68 so ok I can live with that. I was able to adjust it pretty quickly and it holds it's accuracy very well. I put a new hammer on after I sighted it in which means I tore it down and put the laser back on. It was still accurate. No changes needed. Pretty awesome so far.

The problem is 3 or 4 times already , and I don't use it much, it he laser disappeared or got so dim that it was almost invisible. I would turn off then on and sometimes I could get it back pretty quickly and sometimes I would kind of give up for awhile. I thought maybe it was the battery, even tho it is new so I ordered a couple. It happened again tonight and I took the cover off and what is happening is the battery is coming free after a shot so it isn't making good contact or maybe none at all. So when I ding the on off button a few times I sometimes must get it back into position. Tonight I pushed it back down and bingo it works.

It even has a little rubber spacer which I played heck with trying to get back into position when I took the battery out. I think lasermax knows this is an issue and that is why the spacer is there, to keep the battery tight. It doesn't work. Cabellas was also clear ancient this model and prices were low pretty much all over the net. It's not a coincidence. They are stopping this model in favor of another or are just stopping altogether.

Hey lasermax. Send me one to test of the new on ones. This one doesn't quite do it for me

On the plus side it's about as strong as red laser as you will get.

I put this on aTakedown model and its sweet. It looks great with a synthetic stock, blends right in. Fits perfect, functions as expected, and adds rails for a light too. Great price also...almost $50 less than If I ordered it from Ruger direct. It arrived a day before it was estimated to ....so no complaints there. A 10/22 is a fun gun to plink with and this just adds a little more to it.

This thing is a cute idea but a waste of money. I own three Ruger 10/22's and this does not fit guns with Bull Barrels, it does not fit older 10/22's without the barrel band. I went and bought another 10/22 just to use this thing! This is not sighted in perfectly right out of the box like they claim. This is a CHEAP laser with a poor design. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone unless they just like it for the novelty. If they made this out of aluminum, used a green laser, used a proper on/off switch, didn't cover the sling swivel and made it so you can switch the battery without having to remove the laser then this would be a good laser. I read the negative reviews and thought eh how bad can it be....its BAD!
