This review is from: Ruger 10/22 Long Muzzle Brake/Black (Sports)
As others have said this item only attaches to your 10/22 with a single Allen screw. I used some thread lock just to be sure that it sayed put. One came loose very quickly during a shooting day so I removed it. I inspected the second and found it to be tight. A little later, I fired the gun and noticed a strange sound. I put the gun down and noticed that 1) the Muzzle Brake was no longer on the gun. 2) My daughter was rubbing her forehead where she had been struck by a piece of the explosion. Thank God she didn't get more than a red mark. Turns out that when I was shooting, the brake came loose and was struck by a fired round. The round fragmented and a piece struck her in the head. Do not buy this product. You may have a similar outcome.

The first thing that needs to be "fixed" on this product is the name for it that is being posted. It's a muzzle BRAKE and not a muzzle "break!"
The most serious area in which it comes up short is the 4 mm Allen (hex) set screw that is supposed to secure it to the muzzle end of the Ruger 10/22 rifle barrel. The metal of the set screw is so soft that the hex hole strips right out when you try to tighten it to secure the brake on the barrel. Luckily, I was able to loosen and remove supplied screw so it could be replaced with a harder 4 mm set screw I bought at Home Depot. The other problem is that the brake is too loose of a fit onto the barrel and wobbles somewhat. There needs to be a tighter clearance and, probably, a second screw to insure a secure fit on the barrel of the 10/22Reuger 10/22,

Only Buy it For the Looks,
This review is from: Ruger 10/22 Long Muzzle Brake/Black (Sports)
This muzzle breaker deffinately makes my Marlin 795 look much better, but offers no improvements in accuracy, stability, recoil, ETC. Word to the wise; the screw sent with this breaker WILL STRIP AFTER THE FIRST APPLICATION. so perhaps it'd be a good idea to buy a different screw.
