As others have said this item only attaches to your 10/22 with a single Allen screw. I used some thread lock just to be sure that it sayed put. One came loose very quickly during a shooting day so I removed it. I inspected the second and found it to be tight. A little later, I fired the gun and noticed a strange sound. I put the gun down and noticed that 1) the Muzzle Brake was no longer on the gun. 2) My daughter was rubbing her forehead where she had been struck by a piece of the explosion. Thank God she didn't get more than a red mark. Turns out that when I was shooting, the brake came loose and was struck by a fired round. The round fragmented and a piece struck her in the head. Do not buy this product. You may have a similar outcome.

NC Star's 10/22 Muzzle Brake Needs Some Improvements,

The first thing that needs to be "fixed" on this product is the name for it that is being posted. It's a muzzle BRAKE and not a muzzle "break!"
The most serious area in which it comes up short is the 4 mm Allen (hex) set screw that is supposed to secure it to the muzzle end of the Ruger 10/22 rifle barrel. The metal of the set screw is so soft that the hex hole strips right out when you try to tighten it to secure the brake on the barrel. Luckily, I was able to loosen and remove supplied screw so it could be replaced with a harder 4 mm set screw I bought at Home Depot. The other problem is that the brake is too loose of a fit onto the barrel and wobbles somewhat. There needs to be a tighter clearance and, probably, a second screw to insure a secure fit on the barrel of the 10/22Reuger 10/22,

Only Buy it For the Looks,
This review is from: Ruger 10/22 Long Muzzle Brake/Black (Sports)
This muzzle breaker deffinately makes my Marlin 795 look much better, but offers no improvements in accuracy, stability, recoil, ETC. Word to the wise; the screw sent with this breaker WILL STRIP AFTER THE FIRST APPLICATION. so perhaps it'd be a good idea to buy a different screw.

a nicely machined piece on the outside - looks great installed - fits sloppy on the barrel and the set screw stripped out almost immediately - i added a shim between the break and the barrel to snug things up - then scored the under side of the barrel so the set screw would hold a little more secure - was worth the little modifications to make it work

It just looks cool!,

We know that a .22 doesn't need a muzzle break, it already has minimal recoil, but the real reason to get this was because it looks cool. It is simple and was easy to install on my Ruger 10/22 which already had a "Tapco" stock on it making the gun look longer & more impressive on a budget of course.

Havn't had time to shoot it been raining last few days, but fit very snug, in fact had to back the set screw almost all the way out, screwed it down being careful not to strip it after reading other reviews. Took it and smacked it up against the counter a couple times and then tried to pull it off the barrel and it didn't budge.Should be a solid investment, but May change review after firing a few boxes of rounds through it.**fired less than 10 rounds and the brake fell to the ground, useless now untill I find a better way to secure it to the barrel*** REMOVED 3 STARS

Not so good on the Ruger, better on the Steven's Model 62,

I have a Ruger 10 22 Real-Tree finish and it works as described by other 10 22 owners, but I tried the brake on the old Steven's Model 62 semi-auto 22 LR and it fit snug with some gental tapping into place. It seems not be coming off easily so leaving it for now, looks different and kewl.

This is not an effective brake. Should not even be called a brake, it does look kewl, and for that reason it is worth the price......but do understand other then looking good, it does nothing else...

Ruger 10-22 Muzzle Brake on a Marlin 795,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ruger 10/22 Long Muzzle Brake/Black (Sports)
I purchased this brake for my Marlin 795. I had read other reviews about in being loose on the 10-22, but I think it fits the Marlin 795 better than the Ruger. I needed to carefully grind some metal away along the slots that slide down along the iron sights. I ground just enough to give it a good tight interference fit, so the little set screw is not needed. Looks and works great.
