Product Description

The Outrigger 45 Backpack from Ruggard is designed to hold your standard DSLR system and an iPad. The pack is divided into four zippered pockets. The front pocket measures 8.0 x 7.25" and contains five small, pen-sized slip-in slots as well as a mesh slash pocket. The second compartment is dedicated for your iPad. The third compartment measures 14.5 x 8.5" and contains three memory card pockets, two slash stretch pockets and a key ring. The spacious main compartment for your camera gear includes seven removable dividers that can be configured to accommodate whatever gear you carry.

There's an elastic security band to hold a longer lens in place. The inside of the main compartment's lid has two zippered mesh accessory pockets. The bottom of the pack has two adjustable tripod straps. Each side of the pack has a touch fastened accessory pocket.

The exterior of the pack is made from 600D polyester and complemented by a 200D polyester lining. Adjustable backpack straps and a top carry handle provide two ways to carry the pack. There's also a waist belt and sternum strap to help with stability and balance while you're on the move. The bottom contains a non-removable rain cover that can be quickly deployed when the weather turns against you.

It is well made and padded enough to protect my camera.

Makes it difficult to set the pack down, and my monopod is still long enough after knocking it down that it sticks out quite a bit to the sides.

There are adjustable sections in the main compartment so you can adjust it to your needs.

Well built, comfortable on my shoulder...even with all the weight of camera shtuff included, and easy access to everything...this is an ideal camera backpack for the enthusiast who needs to carry equipment options with them.

This fits my Nikon d5100, 2 kit lenses, a Sigma 75-300mm, a Tamron 2x teleconverter, a battery grip (2 batteries), battery wallcharger, filter pack (I keep my filters in a compact camera size case), 2 or 3 lens hoods, my daughter's Nikon Coolpix point & shoot, plus...my B&N Nook Tablet in folder case, a flat wallet of SD cards, as well as my Nook charger, and my portable charger for my cell phone.

Once I pick up a Speedlight, I'll have to make some changes to what I carry...but it carries EVERYthing I 'need' right now. I can see where (as I get more lenses, different speedlights, etc)...I won't be able to carry "everything" with me in future...but I WILL be able to carry everything I need for that particular day/event...just pack accordingly.

The only thing I don't like about it is the velcro straps for the tripod/monopod being on the bottom. Makes it difficult to set the pack down, and my monopod is still long enough after knocking it down that it sticks out quite a bit to the sides. I'd rather it have these velcro straps on the side panel so it connects the pod on the side...like a flagpole. So..aside from that being a personal preference, I love this pack and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I love this backpack!! First of all, it came really quickly and definitely before the expected day. It was well packaged. When I tried it on it felt really nice. The straps are really padded so wearing it on your back for long periods of time is not bad at all. It also fits so much. I was able to put both of my Nikons in it along with a bunch of needded accessories and I still had a ton of room. There are adjustable sections in the main compartment so you can adjust it to your needs. Plus there are soo many other pockets that you even have room for smaller accesories or even a wallet if you need or want.

Finally, there is a pouch at the bottom that has a retractable waterproof cover that fits over the bag so if it rains your stuff is protected. I have not used that feature yet but I can't wait to try it.

I've owned this bag for a couple months; took it to South America with me where it dutifully carried my DSLR (DX), a 70-200mm zoom, an 18-105, a 1.7x extender, and external flash--with room to spare (for, say, a compact poncho, rain pants and a spare t-shirt.) In terms of price-to-value, this bag earns five stars from me. The main zippered compartment contains multiple movable velcro dividers, and a movable strap for a long lens. In addition to the main compartment the bag has two small side compartments and three other zippered compartments, two of those with additional pouches and netted sleeves (filters, SD cards, batteries, pens...). The zippers are not great but seem adequate; the two straps on the bottom of my bag work as cinches via plastic buckles--not velcro. The built-in rain cover is a nice plus. I see that Amazon has a similarly-sized bag for around $30. It also has over 1,300 reviews, so I thought I'd give this competent and reasonably priced bag a plug.
