I have been owning some rugged drives already for the past years and have never been disappointed. I use them at work to exchange large files between PCs and Macs and the Rugged Triple USB3.0 is the best version so far as it is the fastest on Mac with FireWire 800 and fastest on PCs with USB 3.0. It is more than 3 times faster on PC thanks to the SuperSpeed USB 3.0. The product is great and secure with the rubber sleeve and anti shock design.

I bought this drive following a colleague's recommendation. The speed of this drive is very good. Even large amounts of data can be transferred to the drive or back to the computer fairly quickly. The drive has turned out to be a very handy travel accessory as it's powered directly from USB/Firewire ports, has data encryption option and rugged design. All necessary cables are included. I'm quite happy with this drive.

Good priced drive for what you get. It is fairly quiet, rugged, cool running and reliable. The performance is great too. I've bought it for backup and to carry with me when I travel. Seems to be just perfect for what I need it for.

I've long been looking for a drive that's well protected and solid enough for industrial environments. I've chosen LaCie-Rugged. The drive offers great protection and versatility. The three connection options make it compatible with any computer. And the build quality and performance are outstanding.

Wow. Pay a premium to buy from "the best" and what do you get?
* Pre-loaded software for the Mac that does not run on the Mac -- only works on power pc, not intel, meaning that since 2006, five years ago, they have not had time to rev their software?
* Unclear website for finding downloads if you do not already know exactly what you are looking for -- like, for example, if you are looking for the version of the software that actually does work on a current Mac (turns out there is no such thing)
* Downloadable software for the Mac that is the same as the five year old stuff on this newly released disk drive and does not work
* A claim in the ad that the drive provides a fifth layer of data protection with AES when it turns out that all this means is that their encryption software, which you could have downloaded for free for any disk also works on this one, just like it works on all their other disks that don't mislead you into thinking that there is something more secure about them as compared to other devices.
* Encryption software for a 1 TB drive that cannot make an encrypted container of more than a few GB!
* A customer support team that when presented with the above issues take a day at a time to respond to emails, never understands what the problem is, does not seem to know that Mac are not power pc based anymore, and never provides any useful information until the punch line at the end -- just use Truecrypt -- if they had not wasted my week with non-working software and misleading information about special AES capabilities, I would have done that a week ago on my own.

So, if LaCie happens to have some capacity or features you must have and can't get somewhere else for less money, buy it and ignore everything they tell you. Otherwise, save yourself save money and annoyance and buy another brand.

This drive is perfect for storing music and video archives and work documents. It's capacious, has three different interfaces, is rugged, and very portable. My computer didn't have a USB 3.0 port, so I had to purchase a USB 3.0 PCI card. I'm very happy with this set up, the transfer speed is now several times higher than what it used to be.

I love this drive! It looks awesome and works flawlessly with my PC running Windows 7. The installation was quick and simple. I'm happy with the transfer speed. The drive comes with 10 GB storage space at wuala. Overall it's great, I haven't encountered any problems so far.

I recommend this drive to anyone who needs a reliable storage solution. It has large storage capacity, and lots of different interfaces. The drive supports data encryption (the software is supplied). It also runs great, draws power directly from the USB of Firewire ports, and is very portable thanks to its rugged design.

I've been using this drive only for a couple of months now, but almost 24/7. The performance of the Rugged drive has been outstanding so far. I haven't encountered any problems at all. Thanks to the USB 3.0 interface, the transfer speed is just great. The drive runs cool and quiet, and comes with all the cables for each interface. I recommend this unit.

Everything that was said about this product was true and it works very well for what I need it for.
