Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

The second theatrical film from the popular television show is better than the original surprise hit. Instead of delving into their rich fantasy life, the Rugrats gang goes on a real adventure when their families visit Paris together. Mr. Pickles is brought over to fix his giant Reptar robot, the centerpiece of EuroReptarland (a biting version of the trouble-plagued EuroDisney). The underlying story has Chuckie (the one with the square glasses) looking for a new mommy, as his dad (who has a square personality) starts to fall for a villainous executive (voiced by Susan Sarandon). Soon Paris takes it on the chin as the diaper gang tries to save Chuckie's dad from the altar. The success of the Rugrats is in the writing, where much thought goes into finding comic gems for the adults (there are wonderful parodies of The Godfather and King Kong that will sail over kids' heads). The garble-mouthed youngsters keep up their joyful ways in this 78-minute feature that feels no different from their Nickelodeon series except in length, some 3-D animation sequences, and an eclectic song score (with Cyndi Lauper's "I Want a Mom That Will Last Forever" the real catch). (Ages 6 and older) --Doug Thomas

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and touching, April 12, 2001
Fans of the last Rugrats movie won't be dissapointed. Rugrats in Paris is a entertaining movie with jokes for everyone in the family, and slapstick humor from the begining to the end. But underneath it all is a touching story about how important family really is. It all starts when Chuckie finds the need for a new Mommie at Grampa Lu and Lulu's wedding. Everything then gets thrown into chaos when Stu's called to Paris when it Reptar Robot goes crazy. Brining along the family, and the rest of the crew they find themselves in EuroReptar World, a Japanesse theme park in the middle of Paris. They meet the evil Madame Coco whose sceme is to marry Chaz in order to gain control of a family loving company. They also become aquainted with her evil Henchman Jean-Claude, and the gentle Kira and her daughter Kimmy, who happens to be a female version of Tommy.

If you're a fan of family movies and the Rugrats. You'll love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars I want a Mom that lasts Forever, January 5, 2003
By A Customer
I bought this for my son last year. Chuckie sings "I want a Mom that lasts Forever" on the plane as the other Rugrats go to sleep near their moms. My son would real the tape back to that song over and over. He and I just loved the entire movie but he almost lost his mom in an auto accident, and he finally said "I'm glad you didn't die in the car accident.' He was five years old and knew not to take life for granted and that Chuckie lost his mother to a death. He finally would watch the entire movie and Chuckie did get a Mom. There is never a dull moment in this movie as the rugrats are such an active bunch. My 21yr old daughter loves the Rugrats as much today as when they first came into being. It didn't make any difference to them that they were so far from home because they always stick together. There were just more unusual things they encountered. Children as well as adults should watch the Rugrats if the adults have not experienced them and what they are all about. They were hilarious in France. The songs in the movie are great. Take a break and watch this movie with your kids and if you don't have kids watch it with a friend. You will love it. Mrs Symmington

I took my own "rugrats" to see the movie and we all loved it. It was the first movie my 2yo actually sat through to watch. I especially loved the "Bobfather (aka Godfather)" scenes. It is a hilarious movie that both adults and kids will enjoy.
