5.0 out of 5 stars Love the new Job for a Cowboy
Love JFAC's new album ruination. My favorite release from them, although i don't own doom or genesis, i've heard most of the songs from them. I personally hate Doom era JFAC, love the more death metal approach to their music. 3.0 out of 5 stars Feeling.... bored.
This album just didn't do it for me... I was expecting so much, maybe that's why I'm so disapointed, It's an alright album, Constitutional Masturbation is a great track as well as To Detonate and Exterminate and Ruination is my favorite track, but the rest are very very boring to me, listening to the album all the way through just makes you want to listen to something...

Love JFAC's new album ruination. My favorite release from them, although i don't own doom or genesis, i've heard most of the songs from them. I personally hate Doom era JFAC, love the more death metal approach to their music. My favorites are unfurling a darkened gospel, summon the hounds, constitutional masturbation, butchering the enlightened, lords of chaos, to detonate and exterminate, and ruination. Pretty much the whole album! the only song i dislike is march to global enslavement, cause it kinda lags on, but I don't hate the song. I definatly recommend this cd for any death metal fan. P.S.- i'm a male using my moms name

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good Death Metal(Not Deathcore), August 9, 2009
This review is from: Ruination (Audio CD)
I hate the whole genre of Deathcore bands...JFAC always got mixed in with all those crappy bands and I never checked them out till this release. Some friends said it's straight up death metal this time around, saw them live and they impressed me...What can I say, This album totally kicks A**! Never judge a band by there fans or labels. Most Job For A Cowboy fans couldn't tell you who Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Cynic, Death, Morbid Angel, or Nile were. Buy Now!

5.0 out of 5 stars New JFAC, August 16, 2009
This review is from: Ruination (Audio CD)
Ruination is a nice little follow-up from genesis.. It's quite a bit faster and more complex than previous JFAC material. I think it's safe to say that JFAC is growing up and is maturing into a respectable death metal band. Doom ep is a solid debut, don't get me wrong but they've gotten alot more complex over the years. Doom is good deathcore but i like them more death metaly. Unfurling a Darkened Gospel is my new favorite jfac song. It is epic to say the least.
5/5 stars

AMAZING. Absolutely brutal. The vocals on this album are better than Satan himself could do-and the drummer is always nasty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cowboys from hell, May 30, 2011

This dudes know how to make really good noise, they are becoming in some way, a kind of recognizable band by its sound. And in some way this is good but not if they pretend make 10 albums whit the same type of sound. I hope this streak stays only for this and the past one, we need evolution.

3.0 out of 5 stars Feeling.... bored., May 23, 2010
This review is from: Ruination (Audio CD)
This album just didn't do it for me... I was expecting so much, maybe that's why I'm so disapointed, It's an alright album, Constitutional Masturbation is a great track as well as To Detonate and Exterminate and Ruination is my favorite track, but the rest are very very boring to me, listening to the album all the way through just makes you want to listen to something with a little diversity between songs. The three tracks I mentioned are GREAT though, and this album is not terrible like I said I just find it a bit boring, I love Genesis all the way through because each track had its own to offer. I even like Doom but Genesis is where it is, if this was your first impression of JFAC be sure to check out Genesis.

2.0 out of 5 stars Arg, April 1, 2010

I was really hoping that they wouldn't go in this direction. There is few and far between melodies. The pace of the album overall has much to be desired, meaning it's too fast considering the context and that they don't pull it off very well. There's just a large number of other albums I would rather spend my time listening to, including their older ones. Genesis was enough on the border that more people could appreciate it. Now I feel the only purpose of this album is shock value (which is pointless, I want good musicianship). I'm not saying this stuff isn't practically impossible to recreate, which it is. All I'm saying is there's nothing musically new here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Gave them a chance, September 26, 2009
This review is from: Ruination (Audio CD)
So I'd been hearing about this Job For A Cowboy band for a while but never checked them out due to the name. Eventually, however, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to give the band a listen. Everyone said it definitely was not deathcore, and I suppose it's not, at least not in the purest sense. But they do have several of the annoying habits of deathcore bands. The songs all sound the same. That may be a common complaint about extreme metal, but in this case it's really true. I've listened to the album several times straight through, and I cannot discern one song from another to save my life. The riffs are completely bland and unmemorable. They almost never get a good beat or rhythm going, the music is so chaotic to the point of being directionless nonsense. The vocalist is boring and apparently feels the need to scream/growl over every second of every song. Seriously, just play! That's what metal is. There are no solos, which some metal bands can get away with but this style demands it, I don't care what anyone says. They sound like a group of musicians who one day decided to form a death metal band, but none of them had actually listened to any death metal. They just kind of play what they think death metal should sound like, and unfortunately the result is just distinctly lackluster. The thing that kills me about them is that they actually sound like they COULD be really good at this. The technical chops are mostly there. But they need to go back and listen to some real death metal and get some worthwhile ideas.

1.0 out of 5 stars charn needs to get out ov this band, March 20, 2010
This review is from: Ruination (Audio CD)
this album is garbage. i was really looking forward to it to because i loved genesis which is still the only good album they put out, doom was just a joke. and this was their first release with drummer jon "charn" rice, that guy is an absolute monster at drumming! he can do alot better for himself then jfac.... that being said they still are a really good band live and genesis rules, but this album blows...... so if your looking for a jfac album get genesis pass on the other 2
