Book Description

Eighteen year old Jay Stevenson is living a horrible nightmare.

Two years ago, she had the world in the palm of her hand, but in one moment, it was ruined. Secrets, lies, and the worst imaginable betrayal haunt her new reality. Burying her problems under a cold façade seems to be the only way to cope until it all catches up with her. Soon, she loses control of the lonely world she built around her, and the past, present, and future collide.

Three guys are there when it all comes crashing down: JT, the perfect boyfriend she never wanted to give up; Rhye, the local bad boy “rock star” who made her forget the past; and Kane, the funny and sweet tattooed bartender who wants her future.

Secrets must be kept. Choices must be made. Is it possible to move forward while still chained to the wicked vices of the past?

Recommended for readers 17+ due to sexual situations, violence, and language.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fooled again by Amazon reviews March 5, 2013

I don't understand why this book is getting so many good reviews. This book could have been so much better but it honestly wasn't. None of the characters are developed. Things happen way to fast. The men in this book are not believable. She really has to have 4 guys trying to be with her? Seriously?

1.0 out of 5 stars Huh!? February 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
After hearing women rave about this book, I grabbed my copy for 99 cents and began reading. I plodded my way through 149 pages that felt like 1000, feeling nothing but annoyed at the silly children trying to act adult. Our heroine had a traumatic experience and - surprise! - three perfect guys fly in to rescue her. I felt nothing for any of them because the writing is so simplistic. I'm also one of the few who thought "50 Shades Of Gray" was pure rubbish, so take my review for what it's worth; it might just be me! But, my opinion, if you're looking for quality writing, you may be confused at the 5 star reviews as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was over too quick! October 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really did like this book but the 4 star comes from it being too short and there being "too much" happening all at once, if that's even possible. It made me cry, had me confused, had me happy and then cry again. I would say its worth the few hours of your time to read it though. Just be prepared for the questions you'll be asking yourself, like I did.

1.0 out of 5 stars Get an Editor - please.... March 31, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The subject matter in this book was intriguing enough for me to buy it, but after only a few pages I was tearing my hair out. This is the kind of book that gives self-publishing a bad name. The tense changes within sentences. Punctuation and spelling are sloppy. The story could be the most compelling in the world, but written this badly, it's not possible to read. Get an editor, or at the very least, a critique partner who has a grasp on grammar before you publish.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2.49 stars.... April 4, 2013

Ruining Me started pretty strong. I was pulled in!

Jay is a self-proclaimed slut with a painful past and big secret that seems to be ruining her life. Enter Kane. Pure and total hotness. 100% lickable. And it seems he has a heart of gold. While Jay likes to keep her relationships string-free, she finds herself breaking her own rules to be with Kane.

Enter Rhye. Wait, what? That's right. There's another boy that loves her. He's in a band, with little groupies to fawn over him. But it's not them he wants. It's Jay.

Enter J.T. No really. This is no love Triangle. This is a friggin' love circus. Because JT is her ex and he's going to win her back if it kills him.

What kind of golden crotch does this chick have? The intense love all these guys had for her was just too much for me. I felt the story was rushed and came across a little cheesy. A little over the top.

There were moments I was intrigued, but as the story progressed it started to lose my interest. The sentences became a bit wooden. Like when people would speak with no contractions. Unless you're a lawyer or in living the 1800's, chances are you use a whole lot of contractions when you talk. Ex.: "She's hot. I'd get with her." Saying: "She is hot. I would get with her" just sounds stiff and not like how guys speak.

And the writing would sometimes just tell me what's going on instead of showing me.

There's a lot of potential in here. But it needed to be fleshed out more. Some was too rushed. Some was too obvious. Some involved men that cry too much.
And Kane was too perfect. But that's just my lame opinion.

It's got a bit of a cliffhanger ending. However, I won't be buying the 2nd book.

This one was SO close to being a 5-STAR read for me. A few grammar and mis-spelling errors, along with some situations that moved "too fast" kept it in the 4-STAR category though. I wanted to give it 5, because it was amazing...but as I compared it to other 5-STAR reads, it just didn't own up to their level. However, lets talk:

There has GOT to be another book in this series. I need to know what happens here. I started this book at 9:00 p.m. and finished at 1:20 a.m. - I thought about it all night during the hours I should have been sleeping, then I woke up thinking about it, which is why I am writing this review at 6:00 a.m. before I go to work. Needless to say, it affected me.

Jay is our main female character. She has managed to successfully push everyone she loves away from her and out of her life. She is hiding from something dark, but we don't know what that is until later. She is 18 years old and has been on this path of lonliness for 2 years. I LOVED her, start-to-finish. She tells us her story - her words are powerful, her thoughts are understandable. Relating to her as a person became natural. She meets 23-year-old bartending stud-muffin, Kane, while using her fake ID in a bar. He's new in town and they have that immediate attraction that I've come to love. It was intense and hot. Like a champ, she blew him off with a snarky attitude because he is a conceited jerk, or so she thinks. Kane isn't ready to back down though, he's ready to push himself towards what he wants - Jay.

Oh, I loved Kane! I pulled for him immediately. He was just what she needed, the author convinced me...well, convinced me until we met ex-boyfriend, JT. Here comes the love triangle. Though, this one is different.
