The best "run dry" pump for home use...ever! A+,

I don't have a boat. I bought this pump for home use; in a window well. During heavy rains, a window well would fill up with water and leak into my basement. I simply plugged it into an available outdoor wall outlet and connected it to pvc pipes (you can also use a standard garden hose). The pump works 24 hours a day, 265 days a year. Unlike other pumps (like sump pumps), this one will run dry without burning the motor. Every 5 minutes or so, it will check for water and turn off. If there is water present, it will pump it out. Try doing that with a sump pump! It will burn out!
Have a flooded basement? Just drop this down there and plug it in. It will pump out 2000 gallons an hour. A must have for everyone during an emergency.

A major safety upgrade for my ocean going boat. It originally came with 2 1250gpm pumps, that were off brand and pretty small in size. One failed, and I decided to replace them both. I could not locate the exact same pumps, so I looked to upgrade. If 1250 is good, then 2000 is better, right? Now I have 4000gpm pumping instead of 2500.
These arrived, and they were pretty much bigger than my originals. They feel MUCH beefier too. I had to extend a bracket in the bilge area to accommodate the new pump and auto switch I added, but that was fairly easy. On the one side that did NOT have the auto switch, all I had to do was re-drill the holes. Wiring was the same as my originals, so in short time I have these up and running. Putting in the drain plug, I flooded my bilge with a garden hose and turned them on. Water SHOT out of both lines with gusto... much faster, with more force, and farther out, than with my originals. It emptied my bilge much MUCH faster than before. Upgrading the GPM was a good choice. Now the only thing that remains is their life expectancy. With a brand name, I expect many years of good service - if they fail anytime, I will come back and edit my review to reflect that. But for now, I am 100% satisfied.

When trying to maintain a boat, it is always great when you can find a direct OEM part. No modifications needed.

the rule pumps on the island I live are 190$ apiece. I got 2 of them, plus shipping, for another 30$. I am very satisfied with amamzons ability to offer such deals.

I saved myself about 50 dollars by buying this from Amazon versus a marine shop. I am very happy with my purchase.
