The RULE 240 easily replaces the stock bilge blower in any boat with a 4 inch diameter vent hose. In my case, the stock blower was also a RULE 240 that was 5 years old, so I can tell you what fails long term.
The RULE comes with pigtail wires. You'll have to solder these wires to the existing connector that was attached to the old blower, so don't be too quick to discard the old one. Mounting the new one is easy; just two screws hold it in to the stern. The blower mounts with the rear of the motor facing upward. The top half of the motor is covered with a weather protective rubber cup, but it leaves the metal surface of the bottom half of the motor exposed to rain. When it rains, water enters the air vent, gets into the motor and eventually rusts the exposed metal surface. In my case, this caused not only a motor failure but a short in the electrical system. The failure is combination of poor water isolation in the boat's vent design, but then if the vent weren't exposed to the elements the air could not circulate as easily. The simple solution would have been to entirely cover the motor with weather protection, or use a stainless steel housing. After all, it's designed for the marine environment, and that means exposure to water. Short term, the RULE is a great blower at a low price. Long term, it should be replaced before it fails.

Simple, easy to use, easy to install. No complaints. It was a tad smaller than the original unit it replaced. This blower is stronger than the one it replaced. Made in China, but no problems.

I did not buy this for a bilge as most do. I made a heater for my Yamaha Rhino by mounting the fan under may seat and running a dryer vent pipe back to the exhaust manifold. The fan is very powerful and sucks plenty of warm air to keep the cab a lot warmer in cold weather. My only complaint is that it is very loud but to move as much air as it does it probably needs to be.

My boat fan started making noise on one of my fishing trip and with in hours it completely died on me. Got this from Amazon for a great price and installed it in minutes and I was back in business... Worked great.. can't ask for anything more.

This is the genuine article. The look-alike brand that's a few dollars cheaper pales in comparison to the Rule blower. I've been using one in an application where it runs 12-18 hours a day for over 2 years, and it finally started to make noises like the brushes were failing. I feel I absolutely got my money's worth out of it.
