5.0 out of 5 stars RULE 500 Bilge Pump, an old standby
I've been a striper guide and focus primarily on live bait. My bait tanks have been running for weeks at a time on many occasions. These pumps will last up to 2 years under HEAVY HEAVY use which is amazing. Amazon has the best deal on the web that I have found. Always keep a spare on the boat! seeinstripes.com

3.0 out of 5 stars Just Not Strong Enough
I replaced an old Mayfield 500 GPH pump with this 500 GPH Rule Pump. It does come close to having the power the old one did. I could tell a lot of difference in how much longer it took to pump water. Ended up ordering a bigger pump and not using this one at all. I guess I will have a back up if I ever need one. Would not order again.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST CHEAP PUMP FOR POND AND WATERFALL YOU WILL FIND...PERIOD!, December 7, 2010

This review is from: Rule Submersible Bilge Pump, 500 GPH (Sports)
THIS IS THE BEST LOW COST PUMP YOU WILL FIND FOR USE IN YOUR WATERFALL/POND SYSTEM OR GENERAL BILGE USE. I have purchased 6 over the last five years - for several waterfalls and ponds. They run 24 hours a day 365 days a year in temps from -10 to 100. They have dry run for days at a time. AVG life is about one year - Keep in mind that that is: 8,760 HOURS OF OPERATION. If you are actually using as a bilge pump, you could use it 10 hours a week and it should last close to 20 years! It also swaps out in about 5 minutes, is SUPER easy to install, and consumes VERY LOW 12vt power, so it can be run on a battery or solar system. One of the best finds I have made on Amazon.

Pump seems to work pretty good so far but only time will tell. A little false advertising with it. Ad indicates pump is either automatic or manual but neglects to say other parts are needed to MAKE IT AUTOMATIC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!!!, October 9, 2009

Been using Rule 500 pumps since 1990. Always us 2 of them in my Jet Ski that's setup for freestyle. They are constantly running when I ride, and gets the water out quickly for the next trick. Never had one fail on me. Only time I need to buy new ones are when I build a new freestyle ski. So very reliable brand, don't need to think twice about purchasing.

And on Amazon's part. Fast shipping as usual. :)

Although I was happy with what I got for what I paid, I would recommend to other boat owners (large and small) to go bigger for a few more bucks. 500 gpm sounds like a lot but when you consider the power loss per foot of hose, it takes a little longer to pump out 50 gallons from your small boat... especially while at sea (like I had to).

4.0 out of 5 stars Misuse of pump, July 21, 2010
This review is from: Rule Submersible Bilge Pump, 500 GPH (Sports)
I am using this pump as an RV shower pump. Over the last dozen years I have had to replace my shower pump 5 times. (the first one, OEM, lasted 6 years. The replacements are lasting only a year or less. However, the Rule 25D Marine Bilge Pump has lasted and continues to pump hot shower water with no signs of slowing down.

Excellent product and works as advertised. Very quiet and powerful. I use it for my homemade racing cool suit. It flows enough water through 25ft of 1/4 OD tubing with no problem. It's strong, quiet and well made.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rule Bilge Pump, September 8, 2011

This pump is fantastic. I did not use it as a bilge pump but rather as a transfer pump to move water from two 75 gallon kiddie pools to a much larger 530 gallon kiddie pool that I have in my carport. Why you ask? Well because my carport is somewhat level but in the shade most of the time and I can leave the smaller kiddie pools in the sun all day to heat up then pump the water in the early evening and enjoy bathtub like water.
